Crypto employers hire across engineering, security, product, design, data, marketing, operations, and other functions, so a list of blockchain buzzwords is not a substitute for evidence that you can do the job.
Start with the job, not the buzzwords
Choose a specific vacancy before revising your résumé. Web3 is an industry context, not a single job description: a smart-contract engineer, product manager, security researcher, community marketer, and content writer need different evidence. Read the responsibilities and requirements, then make the most relevant experience, skills, and work samples easy to find.

Build each version around the role’s actual criteria. Compare vacancies by the capabilities and tools requested, seniority, expected deliverables, ecosystem or product area, and location or work eligibility. Do not treat a generic collection of crypto terms as a match.
For engineering and security roles
Name the technologies you have actually used and connect them to a project or result. Depending on the ecosystem and posting, relevant examples may include Solidity, Vyper, Rust, Hardhat, Foundry, ethers.js, web3.js, or Anchor. These are examples, not universal requirements. A tool belongs on the résumé only if you can explain your use of it and discuss the work in an interview.
#1 Best Overall
For security-focused roles, make relevant review, testing, or security work visible and describe your contribution precisely. Do not imply that a project was audited or secure unless that claim is accurate and you can substantiate it.
For non-engineering roles
Show role-specific evidence rather than trying to sound like an engineer. A product candidate might link a case study; a data candidate, a dashboard; a marketer, a campaign or community result; and a writer, relevant published work. The skills landscape also includes UI/UX, marketing, writing, and project work—not just blockchain development, as the 2025 Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet report describes.
Translate experience from outside Web3
You do not need a previous crypto job to make a credible application. Identify the underlying work the vacancy needs—such as shipping software, managing projects, analyzing data, supporting customers, growing a community, or communicating complex ideas—and show where you have done comparable work. Then add enough context to make the connection to the target product or technology understandable.
For example, instead of saying only “managed a product launch,” explain the audience or users, your responsibilities, and the result. If the role involves a decentralized product, clarify which relevant product, technical, or operational constraints you considered. Keep the bridge honest: transferable ability is relevant evidence, but it does not establish specialist expertise you do not have.
Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet’s 2025 report quotes Women of Web3 content and partnerships director Níamh Linehan saying that “There are a lot of transferable skills that can be used in Web3.” The practical implication is to make both parts visible: the capability you already bring and the working knowledge of the Web3 environment that lets you apply it.
Make proof of work easy to review
Link to a small number of relevant, accessible examples rather than a long undifferentiated list. A reviewer should be able to see what you did, what your contribution was, and why it matters to the role. Possible evidence includes code, an open-source contribution, a project, a case study, a dashboard, or other reviewable deliverable.
- Use links that open without unnecessary hurdles, and check that they still work.
- Label each item so its relevance is clear; distinguish your own contribution from a team’s work.
- For collaborative projects, state what you personally built, analyzed, designed, or delivered.
- Where you cite an outcome, use figures only when they are real, attributable, and explainable.
Web3.Career’s 2025 intelligence report says candidates in competitive departments can stand out through verifiable credentials and endorsements, public proof of work such as GitHub, dashboards, and case studies, and a clear Web3-native profile. Treat that as guidance to make credible evidence visible, not as a promise that any particular credential guarantees an interview.

Describe skills and impact accurately
Use the vacancy’s language where it truthfully describes your experience, and be specific about proficiency. “Rust” is more informative when paired with what you built; “blockchain” alone is too broad to tell an employer what you can do. Avoid listing technologies, ecosystems, or security capabilities you could not discuss with concrete examples.
Quantify impact where the number adds useful context: users served, delivery time, reliability, security findings, community growth, or business outcomes may be relevant depending on the role. Explain the scope and your part in achieving it. There is no universally validated Web3 résumé metric formula; a number is useful only when it is accurate and meaningful for the work.
Rank #4
A certificate, token ownership, or personal enthusiasm can provide context, but none substitutes for job-relevant ability and visible work. Include credentials when relevant, without presenting them as proof of skills they do not assess.

Use the live vacancy—not a broad market statistic—to determine whether you meet its location, remote-work, and eligibility requirements. Hiring patterns vary by publisher, sample, and time period. For example, Calyptus’s review of more than 400 roles in H1 2025 reported 73.8% remote, 14.8% hybrid, and 11.4% in-office; it also reported 76.8% senior roles. Those figures describe its analyzed sample and period, not every Web3 employer or current opening.

That is the report’s stated trend, not a universal count of all vacancies. Check each employer’s current posting for location, time-zone, and work-authorization conditions, and tailor your examples to the level of responsibility requested.
Quick Recap
A final review before you apply
- Does the résumé clearly target this role and seniority?
- Are the most relevant responsibilities and outcomes prominent?
- Are tools and skills specific to the posting and supported by examples?
- Can a reviewer open and understand the work samples you link?
- Are metrics accurate, attributable, and explained in context?
- Have you confirmed the vacancy’s location, remote policy, and eligibility terms?
