To start an OnlyFans creator account, register, complete the platform’s age and identity checks, add payout and requested tax details, then set up your page and decide what to publish. OnlyFans says users must be at least 18. You can use a public stage name, but that does not make you anonymous to the platform, and no account setting can guarantee that posted content will stay private.
Before you sign up: check eligibility and local rules
OnlyFans is an online subscription-content service. Creators can publish photos and videos, livestream, message followers and charge for access, according to the Australian eSafety Commissioner’s OnlyFans guide, last updated 20 February 2026. The commissioner reports that OnlyFans requires users to be at least 18.
Before creating a page or publishing, review the current OnlyFans terms and content rules, as well as any laws that apply where you live. Requirements and available features can vary by location and change over time. The exact current onboarding requirements should be confirmed in the live terms; an archived terms copy describes requirements that may not reflect today’s process.
What to prepare for creator verification
Do not expect to open a creator account anonymously to OnlyFans. The archived terms specify valid identification and two photos, with additional information potentially required based on residence or nationality. An Ofcom-hosted platform response describes UK creator verification as including photographic ID and live face capture. These are jurisdiction- and time-sensitive descriptions, not a guarantee that every applicant will see the same steps.

Keep your legal identity details available for the platform’s checks, even if you intend to use a stage name publicly. Platform verification and the identity you present to subscribers are separate matters. No source here establishes that a creator can avoid giving identifying information to OnlyFans.
How to create and set up your account
- Register and choose creator onboarding. Follow OnlyFans’ current sign-up flow and provide the information requested. Complete the platform’s age and identity checks before expecting to post or monetize as a creator.
- Add payout information. Provide an eligible payout method and any residence- or nationality-specific details the platform requests. The archived terms describe payouts and earnings in USD and warn that a bank or e-wallet provider may charge currency-conversion or other fees. Check the live terms and your account dashboard for current payout options, timing and withdrawal requirements.
- Provide requested tax information. OnlyFans’ surfaced terms put responsibility for a creator’s tax affairs on the creator. Tax treatment depends on local law and individual circumstances, so keep income and expense records and ask a qualified local tax professional how to report your creator income.
- Choose a username and page presentation. Decide what public name, profile details and boundaries you want to use. A stage name can separate your public brand from your legal name, but it does not replace platform verification.
- Review monetization and content rules before posting. The terms describe a monthly subscription price as optional (“if any”) and invite creators to add content for subscribers. Confirm current pricing options and content rules in the live platform materials rather than relying on old terms or assumptions.
- Publish only after deciding what you are comfortable sharing. Consider the permanence and audience of each photo, video, message or livestream before posting. OnlyFans’ formats and eligibility rules can change; an Ofcom-hosted platform response described posts, stories, direct messages, livestreams and voice notes, and said livestream eligibility was for creators with a history of terms adherence. That dated description does not promise that a new account can livestream.
Plan how people will find your page
Do not assume a new page will be discoverable through platform-wide search. In material hosted by Ofcom, OnlyFans said it had no site-wide discoverability or keyword-search function; fans could reach creators via a direct link or by knowing a username. That is a dated platform statement, so confirm current discovery features before building a promotion plan around them.

In practical terms, think about how you will share your page link and whether the public accounts you use for promotion reveal your identity or connect to personal profiles. Audience growth is not guaranteed, and the platform’s tools do not promise subscribers or income. Revenue depends on factors such as audience, pricing, content, time and expenses; there is no reliable beginner income figure established here.
Protect your privacy and account access
The eSafety Commissioner warns that OnlyFans content has been reported as leaked publicly and that sexually explicit images shared online may circulate more widely than intended. Before posting, weigh the possibility of unauthorized copying, recognition by people you know, and discovery by family or an employer. There is no established leak-prevalence measure or guarantee that a particular security product can prevent redistribution.

- Review the platform’s current privacy, profile-visibility and account-security controls, and consult its linked privacy and safety resources for current steps.
- Use a strong, unique password and secure the email account connected to your creator account.
- Check photos and videos for identifying details such as reflections, location clues, documents, distinctive surroundings or visible account names.
- Consider whether your promotion accounts, usernames or linked profiles make it easy to connect your creator page to your personal identity.
- Do not treat hiding a profile detail as a guarantee against copying, screenshots or redistribution.
Use the equipment you already have at first
The platform supports photos and video, but the sources do not establish any required equipment. A phone may be enough to try the workflow. A smartphone tripod with a ring light is an optional aid for steadier photos or video, not a requirement and not evidence of better earnings. Avoid making substantial purchases before you know what content format and setup suit you.
Check whether an OnlyFans app is official
The eSafety Commissioner’s guide, updated 20 February 2026, says there are no official OnlyFans apps currently available. Verify the service’s current access routes directly before installing anything; do not assume an app in an app store is official.

What to know about fees and earnings
The archived terms say creator earnings are the portion of fan payments payable after fees and applicable taxes, and describe a minimum balance for withdrawal without establishing a current universal threshold. Because the current live terms and account-specific payout details control, check those before setting prices or relying on a withdrawal schedule. Do not treat a quoted gross subscription price as take-home income: applicable platform fees, taxes, currency conversion and other provider charges may affect what reaches you.
In a 2022 TIME interview, then-CEO Ami Gan described the platform’s split as “80-20.” That is a historical executive statement, not independently verified current fee terms or a calculation of a creator’s net earnings. Current terms take precedence.
