Turn on the Stocks widget’s higher-density view
- Touch and hold an empty area of your iPhone Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap Edit, then Add Widget.
- Choose Stocks, swipe to the Watchlist widget, select a size, and add it.
- Touch and hold the widget, then tap Edit Widget.
- Choose the watchlist you want to see. If the option appears, turn on Show More Details. Apple’s guide also refers to Show More Symbols, depending on the widget and software version. Apple’s iPhone User Guide documents both labels.
You can add multiple Stocks widgets and choose different sizes and watchlists. Apple documents Stocks widgets for both the iPhone Home Screen and Lock Screen.

How many symbols can the setting show?
In an April 7, 2025 report, Ryan Christoffel of 9to5Mac said turning on the setting doubled the symbols in medium and large Watchlist widgets: medium went from three to six, and large from six to 12. Those are reported counts, not capacities guaranteed in Apple’s current guide, which confirms the option but does not specify those numbers. Read the 9to5Mac report.
Choose what the widget tracks
The Watchlist widget displays a list you select; Apple also offers a Symbol widget for focusing on an individual ticker. You can create named watchlists, add a ticker, company, fund, or index, and rearrange or automatically sort items. For the secondary value shown beneath a price, Apple documents Price Change, Percentage Change, and Market Cap options. See Apple’s guide to managing Stocks watchlists.

Apple describes Stocks as a market-information app with recent prices, daily percentage changes, market capitalization, interactive charts, performance details, and related news. Its App Store listing says watchlists can include stocks, indexes, mutual funds, ETFs, and currencies, and that the app supports Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. News availability varies: Apple News stories and Top Stories are available in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia; elsewhere, the listing says news stories are provided by Yahoo. Apple says watchlists can be viewed on iPhone, iPad, and Mac when those devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and Stocks is enabled in iCloud. That makes a selected list useful beyond the widget, while the widget provides a quick glance at the symbols you choose.
