Moving-average alerts are less widely supported: check the specific app and whether the feature is available on mobile, desktop, or both. An alert reports that a condition occurred; it is not a buy, sell, or hold recommendation.
How do I set a stock price alert?
The labels and locations differ by brokerage, but the basic process is similar:

- Search for and open the stock, ETF, or other security in the app.
- On its quote or chart page, look for Set an Alert, an Alerts menu, or a bell icon.
- Choose the condition, such as crossing above or below a price, and enter the threshold.
- Save the alert, then open the app’s alert list or manager to confirm it is active.
- Check that your intended delivery channel is enabled in the app and in your phone’s notification settings.
For alerts you rely on, verify the channel and platform directly. Providers caution that delivery can depend on service availability and device or app settings.
How to create alerts in specific apps
The following instructions are based on US support materials. App features and navigation can change, so labels may differ by version or region.

Charles Schwab Mobile
- Go to Markets, search for a symbol, and open its quote details.
- Tap Set an Alert, choose Target price, then select the price type and direction.
- Enter the target and save. To review open alerts, tap the profile icon and choose Stock Alerts; triggered alerts appear on a separate tab.
Schwab says mobile alerts do not synchronize with alerts on thinkorswim or Schwab.com. Schwab’s mobile alert instructions show the current documented workflow.
Robinhood US
- Open a stock or ETF chart in the app or on web classic and select the bell icon.
- Choose Price alerts, set an above or below threshold, and save.
Robinhood’s support page also lists Indicator alerts for stocks and ETFs, but its instructions do not establish that every moving-average type is available. It describes certain 5% and 10% movement-alert thresholds; those are product settings, not measures of alert effectiveness. Custom alerts arrive as push notifications, and delivery depends on service availability and app and phone settings. Robinhood Financial LLC says notifications are informational and “aren’t a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any particular security.” See Robinhood’s US price-alert help page.

Fidelity Trader+ Desktop
In Trader+ Desktop, open Tools > News & Research > Set Alert. Fidelity’s guide documents price movement in dollars or percent, 52-week highs and lows, and price crossing 20-, 50-, or 200-day exponential moving averages (EMA). These are supported alert settings, not a claim that any particular period predicts a price move. See Fidelity’s Trader+ Desktop alert guide.
Fidelity Mobile
A Fidelity education article published July 27, 2026, says Fidelity Mobile offers alerts for price, percent change, moving averages, and 52-week highs and lows, with push notifications. It also says price-trigger alerts can be delivered by text or email. The article does not provide exact mobile navigation steps, and available options may depend on the current app version. How do I get an alert when a stock crosses its moving average?
First confirm that your app supports indicator alerts and identifies the moving average you want. “Moving average” can refer to different indicators and periods; the app’s menu should specify the available type and condition. Look for an alert condition such as crossing above or below the selected line, choose the period if offered, and save it. Then check the alert manager to ensure it is active.
Fidelity Trader+ Desktop specifically documents crossings of 20-, 50-, and 200-day EMAs. Robinhood lists indicator alerts, but the cited support instructions do not confirm which moving-average types it offers. If your brokerage lacks the technical condition you need, TradingView documents alerts for indicators, drawings, strategies, and chart patterns, including crossing up or down and entering or exiting a channel. How can I make sure notifications reach me?
- Confirm the alert appears as active in the app’s alert manager after saving.
- Enable the selected delivery method in the brokerage app and allow notifications in your phone’s operating-system settings.
- Check whether alerts are limited to a particular app, device, or platform. Schwab, for example, says its mobile alerts do not sync with thinkorswim or Schwab.com.
- Do not assume that an alert will arrive instantly or under every circumstance. Robinhood explicitly conditions push delivery on service availability and app and phone settings.
What should I compare when choosing an alert feature?

Feature documentation describes available controls; it does not establish comparative trigger speed, delivery reliability, or investment results. Treat an alert as a prompt to review the security and your plan, not as an instruction to trade.
