To get a notification when Bitcoin reaches a price you choose, select the BTC market or trading pair in your exchange, create an alert for a price above or below your target, then enable notifications in both the exchange and your device settings. A price alert is only a notification—it does not place a buy or sell order.
How do Bitcoin price alerts work?
An exchange alert watches a selected asset or trading pair for a condition you set, such as BTC/USD rising above a price or BTC/USDT dropping below it. When the condition is met, the exchange may send a push, in-app, email, or desktop notification, depending on its settings and your device permissions.
Alerts are separate from orders. Coinbase states that price alerts “are only notifications that an asset has reached a certain price. They do not place an order for that asset.” If you want to trade, you must place an order separately.
How do I set a Bitcoin price alert on my exchange?
Choose the correct market first: for example, BTC/USD and BTC/USDT are different trading pairs. Then choose the threshold and direction—above or below—before saving. Exchange interfaces and feature availability can vary by app mode and region; if a control is missing, check the exchange’s current help page.

Coinbase mobile app
- Search for Bitcoin or the cryptocurrency you want to track, then select it.
- Add the asset to your watchlist by tapping the star. Coinbase says only watchlist assets send price alerts.
- Tap the bell-plus icon and choose Add Alert.
- Choose whether the price should move above or below your target, enter the price, and save.
- To choose delivery methods, open Account & Settings and then Notification Settings. Check the switches for the relevant predetermined Price Alerts or Custom Alerts; custom alert options include push, in-app, and/or email.

Binance app
Binance’s cited instructions say the app feature is available in Binance Pro. In the app, open Markets, search for the BTC trading pair you want, tap the Alert icon, select the alert type, enter the target and frequency, and create the alert. Turn on Binance notifications in your phone’s settings as well. The article’s example uses BNB/USDT, so select the BTC pair relevant to your account rather than copying that example.

Binance desktop
Open Alerts, choose Create Alert, select the BTC pair and alert settings, and create it. Enable desktop system notifications too, or the alert may not appear as a system notification. Binance’s support article, updated 2026-01-06, lists absolute price conditions (reaches, rises above, or drops to a level), percentage-change conditions, and 24-hour change conditions. It allows up to 10 alerts per pair and 50 total; each alert is valid for 90 days. These are Binance limits, not general exchange limits. See Binance’s alert instructions and limits.
Kraken web and mobile
On Kraken web, use the Alerts widget. On mobile, use the bell on the Markets page or long-tap an open order or market. In the alert window, select the market, trigger parameters, and price, then create the alert. Active alerts can be edited or deleted.

For mobile delivery, enable Kraken Pro push notifications both in the app and in your device settings. Kraken says Futures alerts cannot currently be created in the app. A Futures alert created on the web can still send a mobile push notification when price-alert push settings are enabled, although the notification may not open the correct market page. - Confirm the alert appears in the exchange’s active-alert list after you save it.
- Check the exchange’s own notification settings and allow notifications for the app in your phone or desktop operating system.
- For email delivery, check the address associated with the account and look in spam or filtered folders if a test notification does not arrive.
- Review the alert’s expiration and any maximum-alert rules in the exchange’s current help page; limits differ by platform.
These checks can catch a disabled setting or an expired alert, but an alert does not guarantee immediate delivery. Availability, controls, and notification behavior may change.
