You can sell clothing and other eligible items on Poshmark by creating a detailed listing, pricing it with fees in mind, and shipping each sale with its order-specific prepaid label. Strong photos and accurate descriptions help buyers assess an item, but they do not guarantee a quick sale or a profit. This guide reflects Poshmark guidance available on October 8, 2026; fees, shipping terms, and seller tools can change.
How do I start selling on Poshmark?
Start with items that fit Poshmark’s current marketplace categories. Poshmark describes examples including new and pre-loved fashion, jewelry, accessories, home decor, electronics, and select beauty and wellness products. Check the platform’s current category and prohibited-item rules before listing anything unusual. Its For Sellers page is a place to find seller guidance.
Before listing, decide whether the likely sale price is worth your time and costs. Your net proceeds are not the same as your sale price: account for Poshmark’s fee, what you paid for the item, any discount you fund, and relevant packing or other expenses. Keep acquisition costs and expenses separate from gross sales so you can tell whether a sale was actually profitable.
How do I list an item?
- Photograph the item you are selling. Poshmark recommends at least four clear images. Show the front, back, label, details, and condition; photograph flaws and signs of wear rather than concealing them.
- Write an accurate, searchable title and description. Poshmark’s listing instructions allow titles up to 80 characters and recommend including brand, style, category, size, and color when applicable. Describe condition, material, measurements, fit, and flaws where relevant.
- Choose the correct listing attributes. Include brand, category, size, condition, color, and price. Select the standardized size that accurately describes the item rather than relying only on a fit note.
- Set an asking price with the fee and any planned discount in view. Use Poshmark’s Suggested Price tool where available and compare similar sold listings. An asking price is not a guarantee of the final sale price.
Poshmark says there is no fee to list and no monthly subscription in its seller FAQ, but charges can change. Check the current fee guidance before making a pricing decision.

What are the fees for selling on Poshmark?
For U.S. sales, Poshmark Support’s fee guidance, accessed October 8, 2026, states the following:

For example, a $20 sale subject to the 20% fee leaves $16 before inventory cost, seller-funded discounts, taxes, supplies, or other applicable deductions. Poshmark’s fee page also says that, effective October 1, 2025, sellers located in Texas see an additional Texas Seller Fee Tax deducted from earnings. These are platform terms, not a measure of your profit.

How should I maintain a listing and respond to buyers?
Answer questions, keep listings current, and consider platform features such as bundles or Smart Sell where useful and available to your account. These tools may help manage selling activity, but the available official guidance does not quantify how much any particular feature increases sales. There is no established formula that guarantees a fast sale or a particular income.
Poshmark’s January 12, 2026 seller update, updated January 15, said sellers could choose to combine purchases from the same buyer made within a 24-hour window; an order is no longer eligible to combine after it ships. The update also said Smart Sell had become available in Bulk Upload and that in-app ordering of Ground Advantage supplies was rolling out gradually, so availability can vary by account. In the same update, Poshmark said accounts may be restricted when cancellations exceed 3% of orders in a rolling 90-day period, excluding buyer-requested cancellations and cancellations for bundling with another order. Check the seller update and current policy for changes.

How do I ship my sale?
Use the prepaid, tracked USPS label Poshmark provides for that specific order. Poshmark warns that using a different label may delay earnings and that it cannot reimburse packages lost in transit when its supplied label is not used. Its shipping guidance says most sellers ship within two days and an order that remains unshipped on the 14th day may be automatically canceled.
- Check the order’s current label and requirements. Poshmark’s current U.S. guidance describes USPS Ground Advantage. Confirm the service, weight allowance, and size rules shown for your order in the app; do not assume a past shipping rate or limit still applies.
- Pack in suitable material. A plain box or mailer can work, as can eligible USPS Ground Advantage packaging. Do not use USPS Priority Mail packaging for a Ground Advantage shipment. Poshmark’s guidance describes a maximum combined parcel length and girth of 108 inches; check current instructions for the order.
- Remove old labels and markings if reusing packaging. Cover or remove previous shipping labels and any hazmat markings. Poshmark’s support page on boxes and shipping non-compliance says a USPS HazMat non-compliance fee took effect August 1, 2026: of the $50 fee, Poshmark says it covers $45 and deducts $5 from the seller if a shipment is flagged. Recheck current support guidance because these rules and amounts can change.
- Ship promptly with the order’s label. Follow the current order instructions and retain the tracking information associated with the provided label.
Shipping prices have changed before. Poshmark’s September 8, 2025 announcement said the Posh Post rate would fall from $8.27 to $6.49 effective September 12, 2025, and described 2–5 business-day delivery and a single label for items up to five pounds at that time. Those are historical details, not verified current rates or limits; check the app for present terms. The shipping instructions are the place to confirm how to fulfill a current order.

How can I judge whether a sale is worth the effort?
- Estimate net proceeds: subtract the platform fee, acquisition cost, seller-funded discounts, and relevant expenses from the expected sale price.
- Assess listing work: consider the time needed to photograph the item, provide complete details, answer questions, and keep the listing current.
- Check fulfillment readiness: make sure you can package the item correctly and meet the order’s current weight, size, and shipping requirements.
- Use sold listings as pricing context: comparable completed sales can inform an asking price, but they do not ensure your item will sell at that price or on a particular timeline.
Poshmark describes fast shipping as a way to build buyer trust, but that company statement is not evidence that a particular listing tactic causes a faster sale. No verified average seller income or median time-to-sale is established here.
