Yes—you can use Apple Pay to buy selected Île-de-France transit tickets for your iPhone, but not every Navigo pass is sold directly in Apple Wallet. Wallet offers a defined selection; the Île-de-France Mobilités app lists additional options, including Navigo Week and Month passes.
Two ways to buy tickets with Apple Pay
Apple Pay is the payment method, not the transit pass itself. Once a purchase is accepted, the ticket is loaded onto a digital Navigo card in Apple Wallet. Île-de-France Mobilités supports purchases through its iPhone app as well as direct purchases in Apple Wallet, but the available tickets differ.

The eligible-ticket lists can change. For a ticket not currently offered in Wallet, Île-de-France Mobilités advises checking its app. Using Apple Pay is a payment option; the cited authority pages do not establish a fare discount for paying this way.

How to buy and load a ticket on an iPhone
- Open the Île-de-France Mobilités app or Apple Wallet and choose the iPhone ticket option.
- Select an eligible ticket or pass. If buying a Navigo Week or Month pass in the Île-de-France Mobilités app, sign in with Île-de-France Mobilités Connect.
- Pay with Apple Pay. For the first ticket, the purchase and card setup require Wi-Fi or a mobile network connection.
- After payment is accepted, Wallet creates a dematerialized Navigo card with the ticket loaded.
How to validate a ticket
When you travel, hold the iPhone near the validator to validate. The ticket is on the digital Navigo card in Wallet; you do not need to buy a new physical card for this setup.

Check iPhone compatibility before you travel
Île-de-France Mobilités’ iPhone guide specifies iOS 17.5 or later and lists iPhone XR and XS as the oldest accepted models. Check the authority’s latest guidance before travel, since compatibility requirements can change. A compatible phone does not need replacing just to use this payment option.
What happens if the iPhone battery runs out?
In a 2024 explainer, Île-de-France Mobilités said: “Even if your iPhone runs out of battery, your Navigo pass is still accessible.” The authority described reserve mode as working for up to five hours after the battery is discharged. Treat this as the 2024 guidance, not an unconditional guarantee for every device or circumstance; consult current device-specific information before relying on it.
