Some cards accept an in-app USDC deposit, some spend from a linked wallet balance, and others require funds to be moved into an internal account. To cash out, use only the route the provider offers, such as a bank off-ramp, ATM withdrawal, or an exchange or wallet.
How to fund a stablecoin card
Start in the card provider’s own app or dashboard. Find the card funding or wallet screen, then identify where the money must go: directly to the card, to a linked wallet, or to an internal funding or collateral account. For example, Decaf directs users to Card > Add Funds; Cardtonic’s example is USD Wallet > Add Money; and Binance’s Global Card uses a Funding Account.
Follow the provider’s current instructions rather than sending funds to an address from an old transaction or another service. A wrong asset or blockchain network can prevent a deposit from being credited or lead to a loss. Cardtonic warns that “Sending an unsupported token or using the wrong network may result in the loss of your funds.”
- Check whether a separate top-up is needed. Some cards spend from an existing balance. Cardtonic says its virtual dollar card uses the available USD Wallet balance. Binance says direct third-party top-ups to its Global Card are unsupported; users must use account collateral instead.
- Select a supported token and network. Choose only a combination the receiving service currently accepts. A token name such as USDC or USDT does not identify the blockchain network, and supported combinations can vary by card and location. MetaMask says its card’s supported tokens and networks may differ by state.
- Use the deposit route generated by the provider. For an external-wallet transfer, copy the receiving address or scan the QR code shown in the app, then check it carefully before sending. Do not assume an address or network used for a previous transfer is still appropriate.
- Review the amount and charges before confirming. Check the minimum, deposit fee, gas requirement, and confirmation details. Cardtonic says its applicable minimum and deposit fee appear before the transfer. MetaMask says card transactions require gas, deducted from the same token being spent; confirm the current supported asset and network in its help center.
- Wait for confirmation before trying again. Decaf says its USDC add-funds transfer should appear in the card within a few minutes. Cardtonic says deposits update after the required blockchain confirmations, and timing depends on network activity. If a transfer is pending, check its status and the provider’s confirmation guidance before sending a duplicate.
Examples of provider-specific funding routes
- Decaf: its Help Center’s March 9, 2026 instructions say to use Card > Add Funds; it says confirmed funds should become available in a few minutes.
- Cardtonic: its stablecoin deposit guide, dated September 4, 2026, describes adding USDT or USDC through USD Wallet > Add Money and selecting a supported network.
- Binance Global Card: Binance Support states that direct top-up is not supported, including through third-party payment providers; use the Funding Account and collateral route described in its current instructions.
How to move money out
“Cash out” can mean different things: converting a balance and paying it to a bank, withdrawing cash at an ATM, or moving stablecoins to an exchange, neobank, or wallet that offers redemption. A card does not necessarily provide all of these options. Check the provider’s app for the route available to your account and region.
#1 Best Overall
Bank withdrawal through an off-ramp
Some services offer bank transfers through an off-ramp inside the app. Plasma One says users can send funds to a bank using its in-app off-ramps; available rails depend on region, and partner fees may apply. Its app displays applicable fees before confirmation. Verify the payout rail, destination account, currency, limits, and estimated settlement time before approving the transfer.
Cash withdrawal at an ATM
Coinbase says its card can be used to withdraw cash at ATMs without a Coinbase ATM fee, but the ATM operator may charge separately. Coinbase also says crypto is automatically converted into USD for purchases and ATM withdrawals. These are Coinbase-specific terms, not a general feature or fee promise for stablecoin cards.

Redemption through an exchange, neobank, or wallet
Circle says individuals can access USDC through exchanges, neobanks, and digital wallets. That does not mean an individual can redeem directly through Circle Mint: Circle says Mint is for institutions, not ordinary individuals or small businesses. Check the receiving service’s supported networks, fees, withdrawal limits, and local payout options before transferring.
Fees, timing, and availability to check
A single transfer route can involve charges at several points. Look at the complete path from acquiring or converting stablecoins through spending or withdrawal; a “no fee” statement for one step does not establish that the whole route is free.

- Material: Genuine Leather
- Acquisition or conversion: buying or swapping into a stablecoin can have its own fee or exchange spread.
- Blockchain transfer: an external deposit or transfer may require network gas. MetaMask says its card transactions require gas deducted from the token being spent.
- Card conversion or spread: Coinbase says it does not charge a Coinbase card transaction fee, but a spread may apply when it buys, sells, or trades crypto.
- Provider deposit or payout: Cardtonic says it displays the applicable deposit minimum and fee before a deposit; Plasma One says some partner bank-withdrawal fees appear in-app.
- Bank, currency, or ATM charges: the receiving bank, payout partner, foreign-exchange route, or ATM operator may charge separately. Coinbase specifically notes a possible ATM-operator fee.
Timing is equally route-specific. Decaf describes an in-app USDC card load taking a few minutes, while Cardtonic says deposits usually process within minutes but depend on network activity and required confirmations. Circle’s institutional FAQ describes book and RTP rails operating 24/7/365 and enabling near-instant USDC minting, but that is institutional funding context—not a consumer-card transfer guarantee. Bank wires can vary.
Availability depends on geography, state, product, and account eligibility. Coinbase’s card page lists availability in US states except Hawaii. MetaMask says card support varies by network and state. Plasma One says geographic, regulatory, and other eligibility limits apply and may change. Check the terms and options shown for your own account rather than assuming a feature is available everywhere.

What to verify before sending or withdrawing
Use this checklist at each end of the transfer. It helps catch errors that can be difficult or impossible to reverse once a blockchain transaction is confirmed.
- The provider supports the specific stablecoin and blockchain network for your account.
- The destination address, bank details, or payout route came from the receiving provider’s current app or dashboard.
- The amount meets any minimum and is within deposit, card, or withdrawal limits.
- You have accounted for network gas, provider fees, conversion spreads, payout-partner charges, and possible bank or ATM fees.
- The destination currency, exchange rate or conversion terms, and estimated settlement time are acceptable.
- You understand whether funds are held in a card balance, linked wallet, or internal collateral account, and which service controls the withdrawal route.
- You have checked the transaction status and confirmation requirements before retrying a pending transfer.
Custody and tax considerations
A stablecoin balance should not be treated as a bank deposit by default. Plasma One says users custody their stablecoins and that those balances are not bank deposits. Read the provider’s custody terms and understand what access or recovery options apply to your account.

Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and jurisdiction. Coinbase says spending crypto can have tax implications because a card purchase is similar to selling crypto. It states that USDC spent at par with USD should not result in a taxable gain or loss, while advising users to consult a tax adviser. Do not assume this narrow USDC statement applies to other assets, price changes, or tax jurisdictions.
