To mine current Pepecoin (ticker PEP) directly, use Scrypt-compatible mining hardware and a pool that supports PEP merged mining. Follow that pool’s current connection and payout instructions, and provide a PEP receiving address. The project also links to an unMineable route for CPU or GPU users who want payouts in PEP, but that is a separate payout option—not established as direct mining on PEP’s blockchain.
First, make sure you mean current Pepecoin (PEP)
This guide is about Pepecoin, ticker PEP, a project with its own blockchain that launched on January 30, 2024, according to its FAQ. The project says it is not affiliated with other Pepe cryptocurrencies. Its FAQ says PEP receiving addresses begin with the letter P.
Do not confuse current PEP with the older Memetic/PepeCoin project. That project’s repository describes X11 and says its proof-of-work mining ended at block 1,700,000 in 2018. Those details do not describe current PEP.
How PEP mining works
Pepecoin Core identifies Scrypt as the proof-of-work hashing method used by PEP. The project also advertises merged mining: Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Pepecoin can be mined simultaneously through this approach. In practical terms, direct mining requires Scrypt-compatible equipment and a pool that supports PEP merged mining; the pool’s current setup determines how to connect and receive payouts.

The Core README also lists AuxPoW activation at block 42,000 and chain ID 63. These technical details do not replace the pool’s current configuration instructions. See the Pepecoin Core repository and the official project site.
Option 1: Mine directly with Scrypt hardware and a PEP-supporting pool
- Set up a secure PEP wallet. The project identifies Pepecoin Core as its official desktop wallet. Obtain wallet software through official project channels, protect access to it, and confirm that the receiving address is for PEP and begins with P. The FAQ explicitly warns readers not to use the example addresses shown there.
- Choose Scrypt-compatible mining hardware. Scrypt ASIC hardware is the directly relevant equipment class for this proof-of-work algorithm. Do not assume a device is suitable just because it is marketed for cryptocurrency mining; verify its algorithm compatibility and current specifications.
- Select a pool that supports PEP merged mining. The official site links to a mining-pool list. Check the chosen pool’s own current documentation for PEP support, connection details, payout method, minimum payout, fees, and availability in your region. Pool terms and configurations can differ.
- Configure the miner using the pool’s instructions. Use the pool’s current endpoint, worker format, and other required settings. No universal port, command, or configuration is established here, so do not copy settings from a different coin or pool.
- Enter your PEP receiving address and monitor the pool account. Confirm the address carefully before starting. Check reported work and payout status in the pool’s interface, and compare credited payouts with that pool’s stated rules.
Option 2: Use the project-linked unMineable payout route
The official Pepecoin homepage links to unMineable and describes a route where a CPU or GPU mines supported coins and the user is paid automatically in PEP. This may suit someone seeking PEP-denominated payouts without setting up direct PEP-chain mining, but the project’s description does not establish that unMineable directly mines PEP’s Scrypt chain. Check the service’s current supported coins, payout rules, fees, and setup instructions before using it.

Check costs and operating constraints before buying equipment
The project’s published mining information does not establish current hardware prices, electricity costs, pool fees for a specific operator, or a verified break-even estimate. A block reward alone cannot show what an individual miner will earn or whether mining will be profitable. Assess the actual equipment, pool, and electricity terms you can access.
- Algorithm and pool support: Verify Scrypt compatibility and explicit PEP merged-mining support.
- Performance and power: Confirm hashrate and wattage from the actual device’s current specifications rather than relying on a generic estimate.
- Operating economics: Compare purchase cost and your electricity rate with the pool’s fee, payout method, minimum, and reliability.
- Physical setup: Account for heat, cooling, noise, and whether your intended location can handle continuous operation.
- Wallet security: Set up the PEP receiving wallet securely and verify the address before entering it into any miner or pool account.
What the published block reward does—and does not—tell you
The project FAQ says the block reward is 10,000 PEP per block from block 600,000 onward and that it remains at that rate indefinitely. The FAQ does not state a publication year for this schedule. A per-block reward is a network-level figure, not an estimate of an individual miner’s payout: pool rules and mining conditions determine what a participant receives, and the published figure by itself says nothing about costs or profit.
