You can submit your Aadhaar number against your voter ID (EPIC) online using Election Commission of India (ECI) Form 6B. For existing electors, Aadhaar submission is voluntary: ECI says your electoral-roll entry cannot be deleted because you did not submit Aadhaar.
What “linking” Aadhaar to voter ID means
ECI describes this as providing Aadhaar information in respect of your EPIC for electoral-roll authentication. The relevant form for an existing elector is Form 6B, formally titled “Letter of Information of Aadhaar number for the purpose of electoral roll authentication.” This is not a new-voter registration application.
ECI’s guidance on the Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2021 says submission is voluntary and non-submission is not grounds for deleting an elector’s entry. You do not have to acquire Aadhaar to keep your place on the roll. Read ECI’s Aadhaar and voter-roll guidance.
How to submit Form 6B online
Use the official ECI Voter Services Portal and select its current Form 6B option. The portal’s forms dashboard describes the service as applying to provide an Aadhaar number in respect of an EPIC. Labels and screen placement can change, but the documented sequence is:

Submit details through ECI’s portal or Voter Helpline App, or use the offline Booth Level Officer route. Avoid entering Aadhaar or voter-ID details on an unverified third-party website. ECI’s published guidance explains that submission is voluntary, but the sources cited here do not specify Form 6B’s data-retention period, security design or sharing rules.

Aadhaar should not be treated as proof of citizenship. In an order dated 8 September 2025 concerning the revised electoral roll in Bihar, the Supreme Court said Aadhaar is not proof of citizenship while recognizing it as an identity document for the limited purpose of inclusion or exclusion in that specific revised list, subject to verification. That Bihar-specific order does not create a nationwide requirement to link Aadhaar and voter ID. Supreme Court of India.
