You can buy ASML shares through a brokerage that supports Nasdaq or Euronext Amsterdam, but choosing a listing is only the transaction step. Before investing, assess ASML’s chip-equipment business, the risks it discloses, and the price you would pay against a clearly defined earnings measure. The available company figures below are historical, not a current valuation.
What you are investing in
ASML Holding N.V. supplies lithography systems and related technology used in semiconductor manufacturing. Lithography helps chipmakers create the patterns that form chips. ASML highlights its expertise in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, customer relationships, and demand for both advanced and mainstream chips as parts of its investment case. Those are the company’s own arguments for its business, not a guarantee of future growth or stock returns.
The company’s reported results offer a dated operating baseline. ASML’s 2025 Annual Report, published February 25, 2026, reports US GAAP total net sales of €32.7 billion, a 52.8% gross margin, €4.7 billion in research and development expense, and basic earnings per share of €24.73. In Q2 2026, ASML reported €9.3 billion in net sales and €2.9 billion in net income; the quarter’s results were released July 15, 2026. These are historical results, not current share-price or forward-earnings data.
ASML’s results page scheduled its Q3 2026 report for October 14, 2026. The figures in this article were checked on October 7, 2026, before that report was due; consult the later release for updated performance or guidance.

How do I buy ASML stock?
ASML ordinary shares are listed on Euronext Amsterdam and Nasdaq under the ticker ASML. Euronext Amsterdam is the principal trading market. ASML’s share-information page identifies the Amsterdam listing in euros, with ISIN NL0010273215, and the Nasdaq listing in U.S. dollars, with CUSIP N07059210. The company names JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. as the depositary bank for the Nasdaq shares.
- Check market access. Use a brokerage account that supports the listing you want. Broker access and the instruments displayed may vary by country and provider.
- Search for ASML and verify the instrument. In the order ticket, confirm the exchange, security identifier, and trading currency. Do not rely on the ticker alone if the broker shows more than one listing.
- Review the transaction details. Check trading hours, order type, fees, currency conversion, and any local eligibility restrictions before placing an order.
- Choose your own position size and order. Decide how much to invest and whether the order type suits your needs; a ticker match does not determine whether the investment is appropriate for you.
For U.S. investors, the Nasdaq-traded instrument is the practical U.S.-market route described by ASML. Investor.gov explains that an American depositary receipt (ADR) can represent one or more foreign shares or a fraction of one and that U.S. investors can buy U.S.-traded ADRs through a U.S. broker. ASML’s cited share-information page does not state a share-to-ADR ratio, so confirm the instrument details with the broker rather than assuming one. Investors outside the United States should check which market their broker offers and the rules that apply locally.

Fractional-share availability, account eligibility, brokerage fees, and tax treatment depend on the provider and jurisdiction; the cited company and regulator materials do not establish those terms for an individual investor.
Is ASML stock overvalued?
There is no valuation conclusion here because no authoritative share quote paired with a dated forward-earnings estimate was verified as of October 7, 2026. A reported earnings figure alone cannot show whether the stock is cheap or expensive: the share price and the earnings period used in the comparison both matter.

Build a like-for-like comparison
- Use a dated quote and identify its venue and currency. If comparing prices across listings, account for currency and confirm that the instruments are comparable.
- State whether the denominator is trailing reported earnings or a forward estimate. For a forward estimate, name its source and period; do not present an estimate as a reported result.
- Compare the resulting valuation with the assumptions behind sales and earnings growth, gross-margin changes, research and capital needs, and the conversion of orders into shipments and revenue.
- Consider how customer and regional concentration, export restrictions, and industry cycles could affect those assumptions.
- Test more than one scenario. Lower growth, margin pressure, slower order conversion, or a lower valuation multiple can change the conclusion even if the business remains strategically important.
Reported or expected sales and earnings growth, gross-margin trajectory, research and development and capital needs, order conversion, concentration, export-control exposure, and the multiple applied to a specifically named earnings period are useful comparison axes. No single valuation method in the cited sources establishes a uniquely correct value. A strong competitive position does not remove the risk of paying too much for expected growth.
What are the risks of investing in ASML?
ASML’s filings and results disclosures identify risks across its customers, operations, and markets. They describe uncertainties rather than predictions that any one event will occur.

- Industry cycles and concentration: semiconductor-equipment demand can be uneven, and a concentrated customer or regional mix can amplify the effects of a downturn or policy change.
One historical concentration measure illustrates the last point: Taiwan represented 25.5% of ASML’s total net sales in 2025, according to its 2025 Form 20-F. That figure describes one year’s sales mix; it is not a forecast or a direct estimate of losses in any hypothetical event.

ASML says it aims to return excess cash through dividends and share repurchases. Its capital-return page states that an interim dividend of €1.88 per ordinary share was announced on July 15, 2026, for payment on August 5, 2026. The 2025 IFRS Annual Report said ASML intended to declare a total 2025 dividend of €7.50 per ordinary share, 17.2% above the €6.40 total for 2024. The company also announced a new 2026–2028 buyback program on January 28, 2026. An announced intention or program is not the same as a guaranteed future distribution or investment return.
