You can get LinkedIn Learning at no cost if your public library or an organization you belong to provides access. Start with your library; if it does not participate, check your employer or school. LinkedIn members may also unlock a limited number of courses, while some eligible accounts are offered a Premium trial that includes Learning—but that trial requires payment details and converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
Which free access option fits you?
| Route | What you need | Access | Key limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public library | A participating library account, its library ID, your card number, and PIN | The library’s LinkedIn Learning catalog | Availability depends on the library. Patrons cannot access CEUs or download completion certificates bearing their name. LinkedIn Learning Help |
| Employer, school, or other organization | An organization that provides a license | Access through that organization’s subscription | Access depends on the organization’s license and may be administered internally. LinkedIn Learning Help |
| Course unlock | A LinkedIn member account | Up to 10 courses per month, each for up to 24 hours | No more than five unlocks in a 24-hour period; no completion certificate. LinkedIn Learning Help |
| Premium trial | An eligible account and valid payment information | Premium features, including LinkedIn Learning, during the trial | Trial availability and duration vary; it converts to paid access unless canceled before it ends. LinkedIn Help LinkedIn Help |
Check whether your public library offers LinkedIn Learning
This is usually the first option to investigate because participating libraries provide access to patrons at no additional cost. Availability depends on the library, so ask whether it subscribes to LinkedIn Learning for Library and whether your card is eligible.
- Use your library’s LinkedIn Learning sign-in link if it provides one. Otherwise, open LinkedIn Learning sign-in and select “Sign in with your library card.”
- Enter the library ID, then your library card number and PIN. If you cannot find the ID or authentication fails, contact the library.
- Continue learning through the library account. A LinkedIn profile is not required: LinkedIn Learning Help says patrons need only a library card number and PIN to access content. LinkedIn Learning Help
LinkedIn describes the library offering as including over 16,000 courses in seven languages, according to its librarian FAQ; the year of that figure is not stated. It is a description of the offering, not a guarantee that every library account has the same catalog. LinkedIn Learning librarian FAQ
Know the library-account tradeoffs
- LinkedIn says library reporting is aggregate.
- Library patrons cannot access CEUs or download completion certificates with their name.
- If you change to a new library card number, your earlier learning history may become inaccessible. LinkedIn Learning Help
Ask your employer, school, or organization
LinkedIn Learning is also available through organizational subscriptions. Look in your internal learning resources or ask HR, IT, your learning and development team, school staff, or the Learning administrator whether the organization provides a license. This route is free to you only if the organization supplies access; LinkedIn does not sell individual courses à la carte. LinkedIn Learning Help

You cannot unlock the same course again, and unlocked courses do not include completion certificates. LinkedIn Learning Help

Some eligible accounts may be offered a Premium trial that includes LinkedIn Learning. LinkedIn says eligibility and trial length vary, and valid payment information is required. The trial automatically converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Check the end date in your account’s billing settings and cancel in time if you do not want to pay.
