Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a free, age-appropriate book each month to enrolled children from birth to age five. To get books, check whether your address is covered, then register your child using the instructions for your local program. The service is free to enrolled families in the United States; coverage and registration steps vary by area.
Check whether your address is covered
Start at the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library official website and look for the availability or registration information for your location. The program lists the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland, but participation in a country does not mean every community or address is served. Confirm local coverage before expecting to enroll.
If the website does not answer whether your address is included, contact the local program partner identified for your area. Local partners may have their own service areas and administrative directions.
Register your child through the local program
- Visit the official Imagination Library website and check availability for your home address.
- Follow the registration instructions shown for your local area. If online registration is not available or the route leaves a question unresolved, contact the local partner.
- Complete the local program’s enrollment steps for your child. The program serves children from birth to age five and says eligibility is not based on family income, as described on its About page.
There is no single delivery date established for every location, so the official information does not support a guaranteed date for a child’s first book.

What families pay—and how the program is funded
In the United States, the program says a book is mailed each month to each registered child at no cost to the family. Local partners help fund the books and shipping, alongside contributions from Dolly Parton and the Dollywood Foundation. Enrollment does not require buying a product or making a donation. See the United States program page and the Dollywood Foundation about page for the program’s descriptions of its funding and operation.

Books are selected for children’s ages and mailed to enrolled children monthly. An official program overview published in October 2024 says the Imagination Library spans five countries and gifts over 3 million books each month. That is the program’s published figure for 2024, not a live or independently audited current count. Read the October 2024 official overview.
