To find manufacturing jobs near a new factory expansion, use the announcement to identify the company and facility, then verify live openings on the employer’s careers page and your state’s workforce portal. An announced job count or wage is a lead—not proof that applications are open or that every role offers the advertised terms.
Start with the expansion announcement
Search the state governor’s office or economic-development agency website for the company and facility town. Read the announcement for the site address or community, project status, estimated jobs, expected timing and an official link to the employer’s careers page. If you are outside the United States, use the relevant country’s official employment service for the public job-search step.

Keep projected jobs separate from posted vacancies. For example, the Michigan governor’s September 21, 2026 announcement described three expansions expected to create at least 243 jobs in total. It listed at least 115 projected jobs for U.S. Farathane’s planned Port Huron facility, 92 estimated jobs for Wausau Supply’s planned West Branch facility, and 36 projected jobs for Cooper Standard’s planned Comins Township facility. Those figures describe specific projects, not nationwide job totals or openings confirmed as available today. Michigan says its investment and job figures represent business commitments formalized in performance-based agreements, and may be amended or canceled if commitments are not met. Read the state announcement.
Check the employer’s current openings
Follow the official careers link in the announcement, or search the company name with “careers” and the facility town. Filter by the site’s location and search across job families; a new plant may need more than production-line staff.
#1 Best Overall
- Production operator, assembler and machine operator
- Material handler, warehouse and logistics staff
- Maintenance technician and process technician
- Quality inspector and supervisor
Confirm that a posting names the relevant location and is accepting applications. Recheck it on the employer’s official site before sharing personal information or applying; third-party listings may be old or may not reflect the employer’s current status.
Search public workforce channels near the facility
Use the state portal for the state where the factory is located, and contact the workforce office serving the facility’s area. Official examples show how services vary by state:
Rank #2
- QUALITY FORMS: Adams Repair Order books provide space for costs in materials and labor
- BACK PRINTING: Forms include space on the back to record materials used in the repair
- 33 THREE-PART CARBONLESS FORMS: Give customers one copy; retain the additional two copies for your records
- WRAP-AROUND COVER: Fold the back cover between sets to keep forms neat and legible
- ROOM FOR CUSTOMIZATION: A blank space at top leaves room for your company stamp; a big savings over custom-printed forms
- North Carolina: Search NCWorks Online and contact an NCWorks career center. The Department of Commerce says its career services are free. North Carolina job-seeker resources.
- Texas: Search WorkInTexas.com for postings and job matching, and look to local Workforce Solutions offices for job and training assistance. The Texas Workforce Commission also describes training information and resume and application tools on the portal. Texas Workforce Commission job-search resources.
- Indiana: Use Indiana Career Connect for vacancy information and its resume builder; Indiana DWD also points job seekers to job fairs and WorkOne advisors. Indiana job-seeker resources.
- Connecticut: Jobs.CT.gov directs job seekers to CTHires for job search and resume support, American Job Centers for career counseling, and manufacturing and trades training resources. Connecticut job-seeker resources.
These are examples, not interchangeable national services. Look up the official workforce portal and local office for the facility’s own state or region.
Use location and role terms to find new-plant hiring
Combine the employer or town with a job title and an expansion-related phrase. Try searches such as “Port Huron machine operator,” “West Branch manufacturing hiring event,” or “Comins Township new facility production.” Useful terms include “plant opening,” “new facility,” “expansion,” “manufacturing,” “production” and “hiring event.”
Set alerts if the employer or job portal offers them. Search for a range of roles rather than only “factory worker”: maintenance, quality, materials, logistics and technical positions can have different qualifications and hiring dates. If an announcement points to a broad careers page, the job title and town can help narrow the results.
Compare the actual job postings before applying
Compare postings on their own terms. An expansion release may give a project-level wage figure, not the pay for every job or shift. In its September 21, 2026 announcement, Michigan reported starting wages of $21.58 per hour plus benefits for the projected U.S. Farathane jobs and $22.00 per hour plus benefits for the estimated Wausau Supply jobs; it described Cooper Standard’s projected jobs as paying above the stated regional median. These are figures for those named projects, not guaranteed terms for every opening. The announcement’s project details should not replace the employer’s current posting.

Get help from a local workforce office
A workforce center may help you locate listings, prepare a resume, find training or learn about job fairs. The services and eligibility details depend on the state and local office, so contact the office serving the factory’s area and ask what help is available for manufacturing applicants. North Carolina and Texas, for example, describe no-cost career or workforce services in their respective state resources.
