To find blogs worth reading or contacting, start with the words your audience uses, search for relevant publications and conversations, then check whether each blog serves those readers. If you participate, contribute something useful and follow the blog’s rules—not just a link.
Start with the topic language your audience uses
Write down the questions, terms, and problems people in your intended audience actually talk about. Use those words to search for articles, specialist publications, and discussions where readers gather. Google Search Central recommends using the words people use to look for content in prominent places on your own pages, and its Search Essentials also encourages participation in communities where like-minded people can learn about a site.
For a personal-finance topic, for example, a search might combine a specific subject—such as budgeting, credit cards, or saving—with a reader’s question or situation. The point is not to chase a particular search footprint. It is to find material and conversations that match the topic and the people you want to reach.
Decide whether a blog is genuinely relevant
Finding a blog is only a first filter. Before adding it to a reading list or considering outreach, assess it against the goal you have in mind. This is a practical editorial judgment, not a Google scoring system.

Participate to help readers, not to place a link
Relevant communities can help people discover a site, but participation should stand on its own. Read the discussion and the blog’s commenting or submission rules. If you have something useful to add, respond to the actual point, share relevant experience or information you can support, and disclose any connection that matters to readers. Leave out a link if it does not help them.
