Who owns Blackburn Rovers?
Blackburn Rovers Football and Athletic Limited is the club company. Companies House lists it as active, with its registered office at Ewood Park in Blackburn. Its persons-with-significant-control record names Venkys London Limited as the active controller, with 75% or more of the shares, 75% or more of the voting rights, and the right to appoint or remove directors.
That record establishes the registered corporate controller; it does not, by itself, set out a complete split of beneficial ownership among individual members of the Rao family. Companies House’s filing history also records a share allotment on 12 December 2025 and subsequent director changes. The register is therefore the place to check for later ownership or governance updates.
How did Venky’s make its money?
Venky’s business background is associated with Venkateshwara Hatcheries and the wider VH Group. In the group’s own account, the business was established in 1971 by Dr B. V. Rao and grew from poultry. The group describes activities spanning poultry breeding, chicken and egg processing, genetic research, diagnostics, vaccines, feed supplements, biosecurity products, poultry feed and equipment, and nutritional health products.

This supports describing the family business as rooted in poultry and expanded into adjacent food and animal-health fields. It does not establish the value of the Rao family’s private holdings, the liabilities attached to them, or how much wealth any one family member personally owns.
What is the Venky family’s net worth?
A reliable, current personal net-worth figure for the Rao family or an individual family member is not established by the available sources. A net-worth estimate needs to identify whose wealth is being measured, set a date and currency, and account for assets and liabilities. A company’s turnover, assets or business history cannot simply be treated as an owner’s personal fortune.

That distinction matters here because the public information concerns several different things: the registered company controlling the club, the VH Group’s description of its businesses, and Blackburn Rovers Football and Athletic Limited’s accounts. None provides a consolidated personal balance sheet for the Rao family. Rounded billionaire estimates should not be presented as fact without a credible source explaining its subject and method.

Companies House lists accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025, filed on 3 April 2026. The following figures are for Blackburn Rovers Football and Athletic Limited, not for Venkys London Limited, the VH Group or the Rao family.

The Accounts’ summary of the 2025 accounts reproduces the auditor’s going-concern warning. It refers to an ongoing legal matter and uncertainty about VHPL’s ability to remit funds to overseas subsidiaries, including the club company. This is a risk disclosed in the accounts, not a conclusion that Blackburn Rovers will fail.

BBC Sport reported on 2 April 2025 that chief operating officer Suhail Pasha and chief executive Steve Waggott told BBC Radio Lancashire that the owners did not want to sell and had not received a concrete offer. Waggott said he had not received a genuine offer during his tenure; the report also noted that the owners could consider a legitimate offer. Pasha said: “The last time myself and [CEO] Steve Waggott spoke, they didn’t want to sell the football club. In fact, I think they want to try and support us in the best possible way.” These are dated, attributed remarks and should not be read as confirmation of the owners’ position today.
