To enable LinkedIn Open to Work: open your profile, select Open to, choose Finding a new job, enter your preferences, select who can see the signal, and click Save.
To disable it completely: open the Open to Work box on your profile, select the edit pencil, choose Delete, and confirm. If you want to remove only the green #OpenToWork frame while remaining visible to recruiters, change the visibility setting to Recruiters only.

What LinkedIn Open to Work does
Open to Work is LinkedIn’s built-in job-seeking signal. You can use it to specify desired job titles, locations, remote or hybrid preferences, employment types, and when you are available to start. LinkedIn uses those preferences to tailor job recommendations and help relevant LinkedIn Recruiter users discover your profile.

The feature is separate from three other things:
- The public green
#OpenToWorkphoto frame. - A headline that says you are looking for work.
- A public post or comment announcing that you are job hunting.
Removing the frame does not necessarily delete the underlying Open to Work signal. Likewise, deleting Open to Work does not remove an old post or job-seeking language elsewhere on your profile.

How to enable Open to Work on desktop
- Click the Me icon at the top of LinkedIn.
- Select View profile.
- In the profile introduction area, click Open to.
- Select Finding a new job.
- Enter your desired job titles, locations, location types, employment types, and availability.
- Choose who can see your job-search signal.
- Click Save.
Depending on your account, language, or LinkedIn interface rollout, the same option may be labeled Open to Opportunities or Choose what you need in your next job. Look in the top introduction card rather than the About or Experience sections.
Choose your visibility

How to enable it through the Jobs tab
If the profile introduction card does not show the control, try this desktop route:
- Open the Jobs tab.
- In the left-hand rail, select Preferences.
- Expand Open to work.
- Enter or update your job titles, location types, locations, start date, employment types, and visibility.
- Click Save.
How to enable Open to Work in the mobile app
- Tap your profile photo.
- Tap your profile photo again to open your profile.
- Tap Open to in the introduction card.
- Tap Finding a new job.
- Complete the job-preference form.
- Select your visibility setting and tap Save.
The placement can differ between iOS and Android, and LinkedIn frequently changes mobile navigation. The important labels are Open to, Finding a new job, and the three visibility choices.

How to disable Open to Work completely
On desktop
- Go to Me → View profile.
- Find the Open to Work box near the top of your profile.
- Click its edit pencil.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
In the mobile app
- Open your profile from your profile photo.
- Find the Open to Work box.
- Tap its edit icon.
- Tap Delete and confirm.
According to LinkedIn’s current Help guidance, deleting the feature also removes the saved preferences. If you enable Open to Work again later, your previous titles, locations, and other choices will not automatically return. Copy or record them first if you may need them again.
How to remove the green frame but remain visible to recruiters
Open the existing Open to Work settings and change All LinkedIn members to Recruiters only, then save. LinkedIn documents the green frame as part of the public visibility option, so this should remove the public frame while preserving the recruiter-facing signal.
This is not the same as making your search completely private. The signal is intended for people using LinkedIn Recruiter, and LinkedIn says it attempts to prevent recruiters associated with your current company from seeing it but cannot guarantee complete privacy.

Which setting should you choose?

Can your current employer see Open to Work?
It depends on the visibility setting, but no option should be treated as a perfect privacy guarantee.
With All LinkedIn members, your current coworkers and manager may see the signal because the setting is public to LinkedIn members. With Recruiters only, LinkedIn says it takes steps to block Recruiter users associated with your current company. However, LinkedIn explicitly says it cannot guarantee complete privacy. A company association may be incomplete, outdated, or connected to a related entity.
Your search can also become apparent through other routes, including a public post, a changed headline, comments on job posts, or someone seeing the frame before you changed the setting. Open to Work does not control those disclosures.

India-specific Open to Work fields
Members using Open to Work in India may see additional fields for notice period or availability to join and expected annual salary. LinkedIn says these details are visible to recruiters only, regardless of the selected Open to Work visibility setting. These fields should not be assumed to appear for members in every country.
Why Open to Work may be missing
If you cannot find the button or profile box:
- Make sure you are viewing your own profile.
- On desktop, open Me → View profile and inspect the top introduction card.
- Try Jobs → Preferences → Open to work.
- On mobile, tap your profile photo and then open your profile again.
- Look for alternate wording such as Choose what you need in your next job.
- Update the LinkedIn app or try a desktop browser.
LinkedIn’s interface varies by account, language, device, and rollout. The setting normally appears in the profile’s top introduction area, not in About or Experience.

First, refresh the profile, sign out and back in, and check from another browser. Then reopen the Open to Work settings to confirm that the feature is actually deleted. If the frame remains, check the profile photo separately: it may have been added through a photo-frame control or may be part of a manually edited image.

These are practical troubleshooting possibilities rather than guarantees about the cause. Changes may also take time to appear consistently across LinkedIn.
After you find a job
Deleting Open to Work is only one part of cleaning up your job-search profile:
- Remove or revise any public “open to work” post.
- Update a headline containing job-seeking language.
- Review job alerts and saved searches separately; deleting Open to Work does not necessarily cancel them.
- If you used the public setting, view your profile while signed out or in an incognito window to check whether the frame is gone.
Other current behavior to know
LinkedIn says it may email you to confirm that you are still open to work if it notices that you have stopped responding to recruiter InMails. If you do not confirm, LinkedIn may automatically remove the Open to Work feature. You can enable it again manually, but deleted preferences are not retained.

Use All LinkedIn members for a public search, Recruiters only for a discreet recruiter-facing signal, and Visible only to you for private job recommendations. To stop Open to Work entirely, edit the feature and select Delete.
