To change an existing Craigslist post’s map location, ZIP code, address, or pin, open its management page and choose Edit Location. If you need the ad to appear on a different Craigslist city or regional site, create a new post there; editing or reposting does not change the site attached to the original listing.
Change the map, ZIP code, or address on an existing post
Craigslist separates location editing from editing the ad’s title and description. Reach the listing’s management page through the POST/EDIT/DELETE email Craigslist sent after you posted, or sign in to the Craigslist account used to create the ad. Then:

- Open the management link in the email, or sign in and locate the listing on your account homepage.
- Select the listing and choose Edit Location. Craigslist describes this control as the way to change the map or address: Editing a Posting.
- Enter the corrected ZIP code, address, or cross streets in the fields available for that listing.
- Review the map. If it shows a pin, drag it to the intended spot if needed.
- Save or confirm using the control shown on the page, then open the public listing to check the displayed location and map.

Choose the right kind of location change
The map or address is wrong, but the Craigslist site is right
Use Edit Location to correct the formal geographic information associated with the post. That is the appropriate route for a wrong ZIP code, address, cross streets, map area, or pin.

The old location appears in the title or description
Use Edit this Posting to change written details such as the title, body, or contact instructions. Check the formal map location separately: changing text alone does not correct an inaccurate map or address.
The Craigslist city or regional site is wrong
A Craigslist site is different from a map pin. Craigslist says reposting keeps a posting associated with its original site; to advertise on a different site, recreate the post from the beginning in the correct Craigslist location. Do not keep moving the map pin if the actual problem is the regional site. See Craigslist’s repost guidance.

To make the replacement, go to the correct Craigslist site, begin a new posting, and enter the details there. Craigslist’s creation flow asks for the geographic location before the posting type and category. Decide what to do with the original listing based on whether it is still useful; avoid leaving two active ads for the same offer. Reposting a paid listing is a new posting and Craigslist says its fee is the same as submitting a new post, so do not use reposting simply to fix a map pin.

Set an approximate area or a more precise pin
Craigslist’s map guidance says a post requires a ZIP code, which places it in an area around that ZIP code. An address or cross streets can produce a specific map pin, and the pin can be moved by clicking and dragging. If a pin is present but you prefer an approximate area, enter a ZIP code only and select Find. Details are in Craigslist’s map features help.

- ZIP code only: Use this when an approximate area is enough or you do not want to expose a precise address.
- Address or cross streets: Use these when a specific location is useful and appropriate to disclose.
- Pin adjustment: Drag the marker to the intended area and verify its position on the map.
Consider privacy before publishing a home, workplace, or meeting address. The exact location fields available may differ by category and posting flow.

- Make sure you are on the listing’s management page, not simply viewing the public ad.
- Search your email for Craigslist’s POST/EDIT/DELETE message and use its management link.
- If you posted while signed in, confirm that you are using the same Craigslist account.
- Check that the listing is still available and associated with the account or email you are using; controls can vary by post type.
If you no longer have the management email, Craigslist’s job-post help describes activating an account by choosing a password for the email address used to post. Because that guidance is specifically for job posts, availability for other categories is not established there. If the recovery path is available for your post, use Craigslist’s account reset page, then check whether the listing appears in the account. If the location still looks wrong
- Confirm that you saved or confirmed the location change.
- Refresh the public listing; Craigslist advises refreshing if completed edits are not showing. The instruction appears on its job-post help page: Editing and Deleting Job Posts.
- Check the public listing, not only the edit screen, and verify that you changed the intended post.
- Look for the old location in the title, description, or contact instructions; those written fields may need a separate edit.
- Determine whether the issue is the map/address or the Craigslist site. If the site is wrong, create a new post in the correct site instead of repeatedly adjusting the pin.
