To delete a WazirX account, first withdraw any available INR and cryptocurrency and save your transaction and tax records. Then submit a permanent account-closure and deletion request through WazirX’s official Help Center or app support. WazirX’s User Agreement says closure of the fiat and virtual-asset wallets and deletion of the account are subject to verification, settlement, and compliance requirements; it does not promise instant deletion.
Before you request account deletion
Prepare the account before asking WazirX to close it. A closure request may be delayed by unresolved funds, transactions, verification, or compliance checks. The agreement does not establish that every account must have a zero balance before a request can be made, so ask support how to proceed if you cannot withdraw an asset.

- Withdraw available INR to your verified bank account. Save the withdrawal confirmation and transaction details.
- Withdraw available cryptocurrency to a wallet or another exchange. Check the destination address and network carefully, and confirm the asset’s current minimum, fee, availability, and any declaration or additional verification requirement in WazirX before sending.
- Cancel unfilled spot orders and close or settle futures positions, if you use them.
- Wait for pending deposits and withdrawals to finish where possible. For a failed, delayed, or restricted transaction, record its details and ask support whether closure must wait rather than repeatedly submitting the same withdrawal.
- Download records before access changes: account statements, trade history, deposit and withdrawal records, tax information, transaction IDs, support correspondence, and withdrawal proofs.
- Remove API keys and third-party access you no longer need. Check for any active subscription or paid product and cancel it if applicable.
- Check verification status. WazirX’s terms require KYC to use its services and allow further identity or information requests. Its re-KYC guidance says updated verification may be required to comply with regulatory requirements, and limitations can apply if it is incomplete.
How to submit a WazirX account-deletion request
WazirX’s published account-management section lists “Account Closure & Account Deactivation,” and its User Agreement refers to a dedicated closure article. Exact self-service buttons and menu labels are not established here, so avoid relying on an old app walkthrough.

- Open the official WazirX Help Center from the website or app.
- Search for “Account Closure,” “Delete Account,” or “Account Deactivation.” Follow the current instructions shown for your account.
- If you cannot find a closure option, use Help Center chat or the official request form. WazirX’s support instructions describe the Help Center and chat route; listed support hours are 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM IST, Monday through Sunday.
- State explicitly that you want permanent account closure and deletion, not temporary deactivation. Include your registered email and mobile number and user ID if shown. Do not include passwords, OTPs, 2FA codes, recovery phrases, or private keys.
- Keep the ticket number, submitted request, and WazirX’s written confirmation. Ask support to identify any balance, pending transaction, open order, verification issue, compliance hold, or other step that remains.

Please confirm whether any balance, pending transaction, open order, KYC issue, compliance hold, or other action must be resolved before closure. Please also confirm when the account has been closed and what data or records must be retained.
Deletion, deactivation, and uninstalling the app are different

WazirX’s terms expressly describe user-requested wallet closure and account deletion, but do not promise that the request will be completed immediately. The account-management page also lists closure and deactivation as separate topics.

What to do if funds are frozen or a withdrawal is blocked
A deletion request does not itself release funds or override a restriction. WazirX’s terms allow restrictions or delays in stated circumstances, including suspicious activity, non-compliance, operational issues, or insolvency; balances may be frozen during a suspension.
If INR is unavailable
Do not abandon an unresolved balance or assume it will be paid out when the account closes. WazirX’s 2024 announcement described INR restrictions affecting some accounts in connection with disputes and law-enforcement investigations, but it is historical and does not establish the status of any account in 2026. Check your current account status and contact official support. Save screenshots and transaction records, keep ticket numbers, and ask in writing whether the account can be closed with the balance still frozen and how that balance would be handled.

If a cryptocurrency withdrawal is blocked
A blocked withdrawal may relate to a security review, KYC or re-KYC, a withdrawal declaration, destination or network restrictions, processing, an account suspension, a compliance hold, or asset-specific availability. Check the relevant withdrawal guidance in the Help Center and ask support about the specific transaction; do not keep retrying indefinitely.

If you have crypto dust or a pending transaction
If an amount is below the withdrawal minimum, ask support whether it can be resolved before closure. Do not assume WazirX will automatically convert or sweep it. For a pending withdrawal, preserve the transaction details and ask whether the closure request must wait for processing or review.

Verification, settlement, and compliance obligations can also mean that frozen balances, investigations, court or law-enforcement requests, tax or transaction-record duties, disputes, or liabilities need attention before closure can be completed.

Account deletion should not be treated as a promise that every personal or transaction record will be erased immediately. WazirX’s User Agreement makes closure subject to compliance requirements and incorporates its privacy terms. Identity, transaction, tax, dispute, audit, or fraud-prevention records may be retained where required, but the retention period should be confirmed in the current WazirX Privacy Policy or with support; no specific period is established here.
After closure, expect normal login, trading, and wallet functions to stop. Keep your downloaded records because completed transactions can remain relevant for tax and financial records, and use official support for any residual balance or account issue. Whether WazirX can reopen the same account is not established; ask before closure if that matters to you.
Protect yourself from account-closure scams
Use only WazirX’s Help Center, its official app, or the official request form. WazirX says its support team will never ask for your password, OTP, 2FA code, or recovery phrase. Do not share private keys or send cryptocurrency to anyone claiming a payment is needed to “unlock” deletion. Stop communicating with anyone who requests these details, and do not rely on unofficial recovery agents or lookalike domains.
If you only want fewer notifications or less app access, account deletion may be unnecessary. You can remove the app, adjust device notifications, or leave the account dormant while maintaining its security. Treat these as alternatives, not as account-closure actions.
