Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsYou can create a Facebook Business Page in minutes, but creation is only the starting point. A useful Page also needs accurate business details, recognizable branding, secure access for collaborators, connected accounts, and at least one helpful launch post.
Page creation and management are performed through individual Facebook accounts. Your personal profile does not become the public business identity, and you should never share a Facebook password with employees or agencies.

Before you start
- An individual Facebook account
- Your exact public-facing business or organization name
- A short description, primary category, and possible secondary categories
- Your website, email address, phone number, address or service area, and hours
- A logo or other profile image and a cover image
- Your preferred Page username
- A first post or launch announcement
- The names or email addresses of anyone who will help manage the Page
Meta may request only some of this information during creation. You can add the remaining details afterward.
Page, personal profile, professional mode, or Group?
Use a Facebook Page for a business, brand, organization, public figure, or public-facing service. A personal profile represents an individual. Professional mode is an option for an individual building a public audience from their profile, while a Group is primarily for community discussion. A business should not create a fake personal profile for the company.

Meta explains these distinctions in its Page overview and creation guidance.
How to create a Facebook Business Page in 9 steps
1. Prepare your business information
Decide what customers should see and do when they arrive. Write a concise description, choose the most accurate category, and gather verified contact information. If you operate locally, confirm the address and hours. If you travel to customers, prepare a service area instead.
Expected result: You have the information and assets needed to complete the Page without guessing or publishing incorrect details.
2. Confirm the Page name
Use the real business, organization, brand, or service name that customers recognize. Avoid adding slogans, phone numbers, excessive punctuation, keyword lists, or unsupported claims to the name.
If Facebook rejects the name, remove promotional wording and try an accurate, shorter variation that reflects the legitimate name used by the business. Meta says Page names must follow its naming guidelines.
3. Create the Page
On a desktop browser
- Sign in to Facebook.
- Go to facebook.com/pages/create.
- Enter the Page name.
- Select a category.
- Add a short bio if the form offers that field.
- Select Create Page, then Done.
In the Facebook mobile app
- Open Menu.
- Tap Pages.
- Tap Create.
- Choose Public Page, then tap Next.
- Enter the Page name.
- Select up to three categories.
- Tap Create.
Meta documents the mobile creation route separately. Labels and menu locations can vary by country, device, account, and interface rollout. If you do not see the same sequence, look for Pages, Create, or Public Page.
Expected result: Facebook creates a public Page that you can switch into and customize.
4. Add the category and bio that explain the business
Choose the category that most accurately describes what you do. Category selection can affect which information fields, buttons, and business features are available.
Rank #2
Your bio should answer four questions:
- What do you offer?
- Who do you serve?
- Where do you operate, if location matters?
- What should a visitor do next?
A practical formula is: “[Business] helps [audience] with [product or service] in [location or market].” Do not rely on a fixed character limit; available fields and limits can change.
Expected result: A new visitor can understand the business quickly without opening another website.
5. Claim a memorable username
A Page username appears below the Page name and contributes to its Facebook URL, such as facebook.com/yourbusiness. It does not have to be identical to the Page name, although consistency is usually easiest for customers to remember. Check the URL before printing it on signs, invoices, or marketing materials.
Meta’s documented desktop path is:
- Click your profile photo in the top-right corner.
- Choose See all profiles and switch into the Page.
- Click the Page profile picture.
- Open Settings & privacy, then Settings.
- Open Page setup.
- Find the username field and click Edit.
- Enter the username and select Save changes, if available.
See Meta’s username guidance for current requirements.
The username may already be taken, may not comply with Meta’s rules, or may be unavailable because the Page is too new. Try a legitimate location or business descriptor rather than random numbers. Meta also says inactivity can result in a username being removed.
Expected result: The Page has a recognizable handle and a shorter, easier-to-share URL.
6. Add profile and cover images
The profile image is for recognition at a small size, so a logo or clear headshot is usually best. The cover image provides context: it can show the offer, location, product, campaign, or brand style.
Recommended Free Tools
- Use images you own or are licensed to use.
- Keep important cover text away from the edges because desktop and mobile crops differ.
- Repeat critical information in the Page’s text fields instead of putting it only in an image.
- Check the result on both a phone and a desktop browser.
Meta lists profile pictures and cover photos among the standard Page customization options. Avoid relying on permanent pixel dimensions because image presentation can change.

7. Complete contact details and choose an action button
Add the information a customer needs to contact or visit you:
- Website or booking link
- Phone number and email address
- Physical address or service area
- Hours
- Description of services or products
- Appointment details, where available
Choose an action button that matches the business goal:
| Goal | Possible button |
|---|---|
| Receive local inquiries | Call now |
| Answer questions | Send message or Contact us |
| Take appointments | Book now, if available |
| Drive website visits | Learn more |
| Sell online | Shop now |
Exact button choices depend on the Page category, country, connected services, and current Meta interface. Test the button yourself before promoting the Page.

8. Give staff access and connect Instagram or WhatsApp
Do not give employees, contractors, or agencies your Facebook password. Each person should use their own Facebook account with only the Page permissions they need.
- Keep full control with the owner or a senior, trusted person.
- Give content staff narrower access where possible.
- Keep at least two trusted people able to recover and manage the Page.
- Remove former employees and agencies promptly.
- Make sure each manager secures their own account.
Meta provides controls to give, edit, remove, accept, and request Page access. Review its Page access documentation rather than treating every collaborator as an “admin.”
You can also connect the Page to relevant Instagram and WhatsApp accounts. If a Page does not appear in a business portfolio or management tool, first confirm that the person attempting the connection has sufficient access to the Page and the other account.

9. Publish, schedule, and promote the Page carefully
Before announcing the Page, preview it while logged out or in a private browser window. Check the name, category, username, contact information, hours, links, images, and action button.
Publish useful launch content rather than leaving visitors at an empty Page. A sensible minimum launch set is:
- A welcome or introduction post.
- A clear explanation of the product or service.
- A contact, booking, or purchasing post.
- A proof post, such as a project, demonstration, testimonial, or useful tip.
To schedule a supported post using Meta Business Suite:
- Switch to the Page.
- Open Meta Business Suite from the left menu.
- Click Create post.
- Add the text and media.
- Enable the date-and-time scheduling option.
- Choose the date and time.
- Click Schedule.
Meta says people with Facebook or Task access can create and edit scheduled posts, and its documented scheduling window is 20 minutes to 29 days ahead. Scheduling availability can vary by content format. Meta says scheduling uses the user’s current time zone; confirm the post appears in the scheduled-content planner. See the official scheduling instructions.
You can invite relevant customers, colleagues, or contacts and add the Page link to your website, email signature, invoices, receipts, and other customer touchpoints. A Page creates a public presence; it does not guarantee followers, organic reach, leads, or sales.
Meta Business Suite or a third-party scheduler?
For one Facebook Page and an Instagram account, Meta Business Suite is usually the simplest starting point: it is native to Meta and handles core Page management and scheduling. Creating a Page does not require a paid subscription, although advertising and other optional services may cost money.
| Tool | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Business Suite | Facebook and Instagram management | Less useful for broad multi-network workflows |
| Buffer | Solo operators and small teams managing several networks | Paid costs rise with channels; plans and prices change |
| Hootsuite | Agencies and teams needing inbox, approvals, analytics, or bulk scheduling | More complex and potentially more expensive for one Page |
| Canva | Branded graphics plus content scheduling | Not a replacement for Page ownership, permissions, or messages |
Pricing and features for third-party tools change frequently. Check the vendor’s official pricing page before subscribing. Canva can complement Meta Business Suite, while Buffer or Hootsuite may make sense when one calendar must cover several social networks.

Troubleshooting common problems
“I cannot find Pages”
Try the direct desktop route at facebook.com/pages/create. In the app, open Menu and look for Pages. Confirm that you are signed in to a real Facebook account, and remember that labels differ between devices.
Best Value
Facebook says the account cannot create a Page
Confirm that you are using an authentic account and that it is not subject to restrictions. Avoid creating duplicate Pages while trying to solve the problem. If Facebook says the account is too new or otherwise ineligible, follow the review or help option shown in Facebook rather than using someone else’s login.
The Page name is rejected
Remove slogans, phone numbers, excessive punctuation, and misleading wording. Use the real public-facing name or a legitimate alternate brand name, then review Meta’s naming requirements.
The username is unavailable
Try a consistent variation using the business location or a genuine descriptor. Check whether the Page is too new to claim a username and revisit the settings later if necessary.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A manager cannot edit or schedule
Confirm that the person accepted the invitation, has Facebook access or the required Task access, and is switched into the correct Page. Review access in the Page’s management settings instead of creating another Page.
The wrong Instagram account is connected
Check which Facebook Page and Instagram account are connected. Confirm ownership and access to both before disconnecting anything. The assets shown can differ depending on the selected profile or business portfolio.
Scheduling does not work
Switch into the Page, open Meta Business Suite, confirm that the post format supports scheduling, check the time zone and the 20-minute-to-29-day window documented by Meta, and verify that the post appears in the scheduled-content planner.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I create a Facebook Business Page without a personal account?
Page creation and management are performed through individual Facebook accounts. The business does not need to expose a manager’s personal profile as its public identity, but someone must use an individual account to create or manage the Page.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Is creating a Facebook Page free?
Creating a Page is distinct from optional advertising, subscriptions, and third-party scheduling tools. Check the current terms for any specific feature before paying.
Can I manage Facebook and Instagram together?
Yes. Meta documents connecting a Page with Instagram, and Meta Business Suite can provide a shared native workflow when you have the required access to both accounts.
Should I give an employee full control?
Usually not. Give each person the narrowest Page access needed for their work, keep full control with trusted owners or senior managers, and remove access when someone leaves.
What should I post first?
Start with a welcome post, a clear product or service explanation, a contact or booking post, and proof such as a project, demonstration, testimonial, or useful tip.
