Active subscriptions appear with management options. Expired or canceled subscriptions may remain listed so you can review them or renew them. A red expiration message or the absence of a Cancel Subscription button generally indicates that the subscription is already canceled.

Apple’s documented management path is Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Subscriptions and Purchase History are different
Subscriptions is the best starting point for current or recently canceled recurring services. Purchase History is a record of transactions, including apps, in-app purchases, subscriptions, music, films, books, AppleCare+, and other Apple services. It can include both free and paid items.
On an iPhone or iPad, open:
App Store → profile picture → Apps & Purchase History → Purchase History

How to cancel, change, or renew a subscription
On an iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions, select the service, and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation normally stops future renewal; it does not automatically refund the current billing period. Access may continue until the paid period or trial ends.
If you are canceling a free or discounted trial, Apple advises canceling at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you do not want it to renew. The exact timing and treatment can vary by promotion and region.
Depending on the subscription, the same screen may also let you:
- Change to another available plan.
- Renew an expired subscription.
- Turn on Family Sharing for an eligible subscription.
- Enable renewal receipt emails.
Availability depends on the service and your region. For detailed guidance, see Apple’s iPhone user guide.

Why a subscription may be missing
If a service does not appear under Subscriptions, do not assume the charge is gone or that Apple failed to list it. Work through these checks:
- Find the receipt. Search your email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple.” The receipt identifies the Apple Account used for the purchase.
- Check other Apple Accounts. You may have subscribed while signed in to a different account, known historically as an Apple ID.
- Check Family Sharing. A family organizer cannot necessarily cancel another family member’s subscription. The Apple Account associated with the subscription generally has to manage it.
- Inspect your bank or card statement. If there is no Apple receipt, another company may be the billing provider.
- Check the service’s account page. The developer may bill directly through its website or app account, even if you downloaded the app from the App Store.
- Check Google Play or another platform. For example, Apple says Apple Music, Apple TV, or MLS Season Pass subscriptions started on Android may be billed through Google Play.
- Consider regional payment options. In the European Union and other applicable markets, some purchases may use alternative payment systems or external developer links and may not appear in Apple’s standard subscription controls.
The key question is not where you downloaded the app. It is who appears as the billing provider on the receipt or financial statement. Apple-billed subscriptions are managed through Apple; developer-direct, Google Play, carrier, and other subscriptions must be managed by the relevant provider. See Apple’s billing and subscription guidance.

Bank statements may show an Apple charge as apple.com/bill. Apple says this descriptor can cover apps, subscriptions, music, films, and other Apple services. A single statement amount may also combine multiple purchases or subscriptions, so do not match it to one service without checking the itemized purchase history.

Also ask family members whether they made the purchase, especially when Family Sharing or a shared device is involved. If someone may have accessed your Apple Account, change its password and review its security information after checking the transaction.

Request a refund

Some purchases may be eligible, but Apple evaluates each request and approval is not guaranteed. Apple says an update may take 24 to 48 hours; an approved refund can take additional time to reach the original payment method. Follow Apple’s refund instructions for the current process.
