You may qualify for a payment in Landsheft, et al. v. Apple Inc. if you were the original purchaser of an eligible iPhone, lived in the United States, and bought it in the United States between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 for personal or business use—not resale. To seek payment, you must submit a valid claim for each eligible device by December 21, 2026. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee that a claim will be accepted or establish a final payment amount.
Which Apple settlement is this?
This is the proposed settlement in Landsheft, et al. v. Apple Inc., Case No. 5:25-cv-02668, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The case concerns allegations that people who bought certain iPhones expected Siri Apple Intelligence features that were not delivered. Apple denies the allegations and wrongdoing. The settlement resolves disputed claims; it is not an admission of guilt or a court finding that either side was right.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The Smartphone AI Settlement FAQ explains the posture plainly: the court did not decide in favor of the plaintiffs or Apple; instead, both sides agreed to a settlement. That distinction matters. A proposed settlement can provide a payment opportunity without establishing that Apple violated the law or that every claimant suffered the same loss.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe proposed class covers qualifying purchases during a specific past window. Buying an iPhone now cannot meet that historical purchase requirement. Likewise, an unrelated Apple settlement or a claim involving a different product is not automatically covered by this case.

Start with a seven-question eligibility check
Answer every question before opening a claim form. The settlement administrator will evaluate the information submitted, and satisfying the checklist is not a guarantee that a particular claim will be approved.
- Is the device an eligible model? It must be an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or one of the listed iPhone 16 models.
- Were you the original purchaser? The class is aimed at the person who originally bought the phone, not a later buyer who obtained it through resale.
- Did you reside in the United States? The residence requirement applies to the qualifying purchaser.
- Did you buy the phone in the United States? Both the purchaser’s residence and the purchase location matter.
- Was the purchase made from June 10, 2024 through March 29, 2025? The dates are inclusive, so a purchase on either endpoint falls within the stated period.
- Was the phone bought for personal or business use rather than resale? Inventory acquired for resale does not satisfy the stated use requirement.
- Can you personally submit a valid claim by December 21, 2026? Eligibility by itself does not create an automatic payment.
Eligible iPhone models
| Model family | Models included |
|---|---|
| iPhone 15 Pro | iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max |
| iPhone 16 | iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max |
The model list is specific. A standard iPhone 15, an earlier iPhone, an iPhone 15 Plus, or another model not shown in the table does not appear on the eligible-model list. Check the exact model name rather than relying on a broad description such as iPhone 16-series phone. If you are uncertain, compare the model information in your purchase records with the names in the official claim materials or ask the Settlement Administrator.
Original purchase, location and use
Original purchaser versus resale buyer
The qualifying person is the original purchaser. If you bought a used phone from another individual, purchased a refurbished device after someone else owned it, or otherwise obtained the handset through resale, you should not assume that you inherit the first purchaser’s claim. The claim form asks for information that can confirm purchase or ownership, but the administrator—not a retailer or a private seller—decides whether the information is sufficient.
If a family member or employer originally purchased the phone and you later used it, the facts may be more complicated than simply identifying the current user. The settlement language focuses on the original purchaser, so use the actual purchase information and answer the form’s questions accurately rather than substituting the name of the person who happens to use the device.
United States residence and purchase
You must have resided in the United States and bought the device in the United States. A U.S. resident who purchased the phone abroad should not treat residence alone as enough. Conversely, a person who purchased in the United States but did not reside in the United States should review the official class definition carefully before claiming.
Personal or business use, not resale
The phone may have been acquired for personal use or for business use. Business ownership does not automatically disqualify a purchase. The important distinction in the listed criteria is use versus resale: a device bought as stock to sell to someone else is outside the stated purpose, while a device acquired for a company’s own employee or operations can fit the business-use description if the other requirements are met.
Purchase dates: June 10, 2024 through March 29, 2025
The settlement period runs from June 10, 2024, through March 29, 2025, inclusive. Confirm the date of the qualifying purchase, not merely the date you activated the phone, received a later software update, or transferred your data. If you made several purchases, check each transaction separately. One phone may fall within the period while another purchase made outside it does not.
Buying an eligible model before June 10, 2024 or after March 29, 2025 does not satisfy the historical window described by the settlement. A current promotion, trade-in, replacement, or upgrade cannot bring an otherwise out-of-period purchase into the class.

The Siri Apple Intelligence confirmation
The form requires you to confirm that, when you purchased the device, you expected certain Siri Apple Intelligence features and did not receive them. This is a required claim confirmation, not an invitation to make a general statement that the phone was disappointing.
Read the wording carefully and answer from your own circumstances. Do not confirm an expectation you did not have, and do not omit the confirmation merely because you meet the model and date requirements. The settlement administrator may require enough purchase or ownership information to connect the confirmation to a specific eligible device.
What to gather before filing
The official materials require contact details and information sufficient to confirm purchase or ownership. Gather the records that help you answer those questions accurately, such as order histories, receipts, carrier or retailer records, device details, and dates. These are practical preparation suggestions; the settlement materials do not state that one particular document is mandatory for every claimant.

- the exact model name;
- the purchase date and seller or purchase channel;
- who originally purchased the device;
- where the purchase occurred and the purchaser’s U.S. residence;
- whether the phone was for personal or business use rather than resale; and
- the contact information you want the administrator to use.
Keeping a copy of the completed form and any confirmation number is sensible recordkeeping. The official pages describe the submission requirements, but retaining a copy is practical protection rather than a separate eligibility condition.
How to submit a claim
The official claim period opened September 21, 2026. Use the official settlement website and follow its Claim Form instructions. Avoid relying on social-media summaries or advertisements that omit the case number, model list, or filing deadline.
- Verify the device. Match the exact phone to the eligible-model table and confirm that its purchase date falls within the class period.
- Confirm purchaser and purpose. Make sure you are identifying the original purchaser and that the phone was bought for personal or business use rather than resale.
- Enter current contact information. Use an email address or mailing address you can monitor through the claims process.
- Provide purchase or ownership information. Supply the information the form requests so the administrator can evaluate the device and transaction.
- Complete the Siri expectation statement. Confirm that you expected the specified Siri Apple Intelligence features at purchase and did not receive them, if that is accurate for you.
- Submit a separate claim for every eligible device. A claim for one phone does not automatically include other phones you purchased.
- Save proof of submission. Keep the completed form and electronic or paper confirmation with your records.
The Smartphone AI Settlement FAQ states: if you do not personally complete and submit a valid Claim Form, you will not receive a payment. That means a spouse, friend, retailer, or other person cannot silently file on your behalf in a way that eliminates your own responsibility to provide an accurate claim.
Multiple eligible phones
If you bought two or more qualifying devices, review the form’s instructions and submit a separate claim for each eligible device. Do not assume that listing a quantity in one submission is enough unless the official form expressly allows it. Keep the purchase details distinct so the administrator can match each phone to its own date, model, purchaser, and use.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
A phone purchased outside the date window, bought for resale, obtained through a later resale transaction, or lacking the required connection to the original purchaser should not be added simply to increase the number of devices. Overclaiming can create avoidable questions or lead to rejection of information that is otherwise accurate.

Deadline and status
The claim deadline is December 21, 2026. The same date is listed as the deadline for opting out. Submit before that date rather than waiting for a reminder, and check the official dates page for any court-ordered change.
The official site lists a final approval hearing for February 24, 2027. The settlement is not described as finally approved, and payments have not been announced as started. If the court approves the agreement, the administrator must still process claims. Appeals or other court action could delay distribution, so no definitive payment date is currently stated.
How much could the Apple settlement pay?
The Smartphone AI Settlement FAQ states a baseline payment of $25 per eligible device, potentially adjusted upward or downward to a maximum of $95 per device. The final amount is variable. Treat $25 as the stated starting figure and $95 as a ceiling under the proposed terms, not as a promise that every accepted claim will receive $95.

Those deductions, together with the number of valid claims and eligible devices, affect the money available for individual payments. For example, having two accepted devices does not guarantee a particular total because the per-device amount can be adjusted after the claims and approved expenses are known.
Payment may be elected by physical check or digital check, according to the official FAQ. Select and maintain a delivery method that you can access, and update contact information if the administrator provides a process for doing so. A payment election does not replace the need to meet the model, purchaser, location, date, use, confirmation, and deadline requirements.
Do not confuse eligibility with payment
There are several separate decisions in this process:
- Class eligibility: Your facts appear to match the listed model, purchaser, location, date, and use requirements.
- Claim validity: You personally submit the required information and confirmation by the deadline.
- Acceptance: The administrator determines whether the submission is sufficient under the settlement procedures.
- Distribution: Payment occurs only if the settlement proceeds after court action and processing.
Meeting the first test does not guarantee the other three. Conversely, submitting a form does not cure an ineligible model or an out-of-period purchase.

What happens if you do nothing or opt out?
| Choice | Payment | Effect on covered claims |
|---|---|---|
| Submit a valid claim by December 21, 2026 | You may receive a payment if the claim is accepted and the settlement proceeds. | You participate in the settlement and are subject to its terms. |
| Do nothing | No settlement payment. | You remain bound by the settlement and give up covered claims. |
| Opt out by December 21, 2026 | No settlement payment. | You are not bound by the settlement and preserve any right to sue independently at your own expense. |
Doing nothing is not the same as opting out. A person who takes no action does not receive money but remains bound by the settlement and releases covered claims. A person who timely opts out gives up the settlement payment and is not bound by the agreement, while preserving any independent right to sue at personal expense. If that choice could affect an important legal claim, review the official notice and consider independent legal advice.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Using a broad model description: Confirm the exact model; not every iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 variant is listed.
- Claiming as the current user: The criteria identify the original purchaser, not necessarily the person currently holding the phone.
- Ignoring purchase location: U.S. residence alone is not enough if the qualifying purchase occurred outside the United States.
- Misreading the date range: The window begins June 10, 2024 and ends March 29, 2025. Purchases outside it do not qualify under the stated terms.
- Adding resale inventory: The listed purpose is personal or business use, not resale.
- Skipping the Siri confirmation: The form requires the expectation-and-feature statement.
- Filing one claim for several phones without checking instructions: The official guidance calls for a separate claim for each eligible device.
- Waiting past the deadline: A potentially eligible purchase cannot be paid through this process if no valid claim is submitted by December 21, 2026.
- Assuming $95 is guaranteed: The stated amount can be adjusted and depends on claims, costs, and court action.
- Assuming approval has already occurred: The final approval hearing is listed for February 24, 2027, and appeals may delay payment.
Is there another Apple settlement to compare?
No competing settlement program is identified for this eligibility question. The useful comparison is between your own facts and the settlement requirements: exact model, original-purchaser status, U.S. residence, U.S. purchase location, purchase date, personal or business use, Siri feature expectation, and timely filing. Do not compare the proposed $25-to-$95 range with unrelated Apple cases or assume that an advertisement for another consumer settlement applies here.

How much will the Apple settlement pay per iPhone?
The stated amount is $25 per eligible device, potentially adjusted up or down to a maximum of $95 per device. The final amount depends on valid claims, eligible devices, approved costs and awards, and whether the settlement proceeds.
When will Apple settlement payments arrive?
No definitive payment date is stated. The site lists a final approval hearing for February 24, 2027, and payment would follow approval and claim processing. Appeals could cause further delay.
Can a resale buyer file a claim?
The listed class requirement is that the claimant was the original purchaser. A later buyer who obtained the phone through resale should not assume that the original purchaser’s eligibility transfers.
Can I claim more than one iPhone?
Yes, if each device independently meets the requirements. The official guidance calls for a separate claim for every eligible device.
What if I am eligible but do nothing?
You will not receive a settlement payment, remain bound by the settlement, and give up covered claims. Doing nothing is different from opting out.
What does opting out mean?
A timely opt-out, due December 21, 2026, means you receive no settlement payment but are not bound by the settlement and preserve any right to sue independently at your own expense.
The Bottom Line
Check the exact model, original-purchaser status, U.S. residence and purchase location, June 10, 2024–March 29, 2025 purchase window, personal or business use, and Siri Apple Intelligence expectation. Then submit a separate, accurate claim for each eligible device by December 21, 2026. The proposed payment is variable—$25 per device, potentially up to $95—not guaranteed, and distribution depends on court approval and processing.
