A real Amazon Return Policy Litigation settlement exists, but that does not make every email, text, or postcard about it genuine. Verify any notice by independently opening returnsettlement.com and comparing its case name, case number, deadlines, and administrator details. Do not rely on a message’s branding or the link it provides.
Is the Amazon returns settlement notice real?
The case and its official settlement website are real. The site identifies the matter as In re: Amazon Return Policy Litigation, Case No. 2:23-cv-01372-JNW, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. It says the site is authorized by that court. Those facts can help you check a notice, but they do not establish whether a particular message or sender is genuine. Check the official settlement site by navigating there yourself.

The case concerns allegations about certain Amazon return policies and practices. Amazon denies the allegations and wrongdoing; the court has not determined liability. The settlement remained subject to final approval when the site was checked on October 4, 2026.

How to verify a notice safely
- Go to the settlement site independently. Type returnsettlement.com into your browser rather than clicking the message’s link. Compare the case name, number, and court with the notice.
- Compare the deadlines and process. As of October 4, 2026, the site listed December 1, 2026, as the deadline to submit a claim, request exclusion, or object. It listed a final approval hearing for March 16, 2027, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Dates and case status can change, so check the site again before acting.
- Check which class process the notice describes. The official site says Settlement Subclass A members receive payment automatically, while Settlement Subclass B members must submit an eligible claim form. It also says no class member payments will be provided unless the court approves the settlement and it becomes final. A message claiming everyone must file—or promising payment regardless of approval—does not match those details.
- If it claims to be from Amazon, check Amazon directly. Open Amazon’s app or type its website address yourself, then check Message Center. Amazon says that Message Center contains email communications sent by Amazon and that an email absent from it was not sent by Amazon. This check applies to messages represented as Amazon emails; a settlement administrator’s notice may not be an Amazon email, so absence from Message Center alone does not prove that notice is fraudulent. Amazon’s fake-email guidance also recommends checking the sender address for misspellings or substituted characters and checking where links lead.
- Do not provide money or credentials in response to pressure. Urgency, payment demands, or requests for passwords or other sensitive information are warning signs. Amazon describes impersonation and fake refund offers across email, calls, social media, and text, and says it will not request payment information for products or services over the phone. Pause and verify through a channel you reached independently. Amazon’s scam guidance offers additional advice.
- Use independently verified contact details. If you still have doubts, use the current contact information on the official settlement site or contact Amazon through its app or website. Do not call a number or reply to an address supplied only in an unsolicited message.
What details should match the official site?
The settlement site identifies Angeion Group as the site provider and lists the administrator mailing address as 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Treat those as comparison details, not as proof that a message is authentic: unsolicited messages can copy real case information. For current contact details, rely on the official site rather than contact information copied into a message.

Do not confuse this case with the Amazon Prime refund
A separate FTC/Amazon Prime settlement refund program is not the Return Policy Litigation. The FTC says Amazon administers the Prime refunds, the FTC is not contacting people about them, and no one from Amazon will ask for money to obtain a refund. If a notice discusses a Prime refund, check the FTC’s Amazon Refunds page; do not use that program to authenticate a Return Policy Litigation notice.
