How to Cancel Kinetic Internet: Fees, Equipment Returns, and Final Bills

Call Kinetic at 1-800-347-1991 to request residential Internet cancellation. Confirm the date and any agreement charges, return the modem on time, and keep proof until the final bill is settled.

For a residential Kinetic Internet account, call 1-800-347-1991 and ask to disconnect service on a specific date. Get a confirmation number and written confirmation, then return Kinetic-provided modem equipment within 30 days. Month-to-month customers may cancel without a termination fee, but Kinetic’s terms say the final bill may include the full billing month even if service ends earlier.

Before you cancel Kinetic Internet

A few checks can prevent an unexpected charge or a service gap. The steps below apply to residential accounts; Kinetic Business customers should check their separate agreement and terms.

  • Review your latest bill and service order. Look for the billing-cycle dates, monthly recurring charge, promotional offer, and any fixed-term commitment.
  • List every service on the account. Tell Kinetic whether you are canceling Internet only or also Voice, security, streaming, or other bundled services.
  • Choose a date deliberately. The date you call, the requested disconnect date, and the end of your billing cycle may differ. Kinetic’s terms say you remain responsible for service through the disconnection date.
  • Plan for your next connection. If you need uninterrupted service, arrange installation or activation of replacement Internet before Kinetic disconnects.
  • Check the equipment arrangement. Identify which devices are rented or Kinetic-owned and which you purchased yourself.
  • Protect your email access. If you use a windstream.net address, move important logins and save messages and contacts before you lose access.

How to cancel Kinetic Internet

  1. Call Kinetic account support at 1-800-347-1991. Have your account number, service address, account-holder name, billing ZIP code, and a recent bill ready. Kinetic lists this number for account support; check its support page for current department hours before calling.
  2. Verify the account and identify exactly what should end. If you have bundled services, name each service to cancel and each one you want to keep.
  3. Request a specific disconnection date. Ask the representative to confirm the effective date, not just the date the request is entered.
  4. Ask about commitments and charges. Have the representative check for a fixed term, promotional commitment, equipment charges, outstanding balance, and any add-ons or other account charges.
  5. Get the return instructions. Ask which Kinetic-owned devices must be returned, the return deadline, and how to obtain a label or shipping instructions.
  6. Request proof of the cancellation. Ask for a confirmation number and written confirmation showing the services being disconnected and the effective date. Record the call date and the representative’s name or ID.

You can say: “I am the account holder and want to cancel my Kinetic Internet service. Please schedule disconnection for [date]. Please tell me whether I have any fixed-term or promotional commitment, what my final bill will include, and how to return all Kinetic-owned equipment. Please provide a confirmation number and send written confirmation.”

Can you cancel through chat or email?

Kinetic advertises chat, email, and account support on its support page, so those channels can help you reach the right team or create a written record. However, Kinetic’s current terms expressly identify cancellation by phone; the support information does not establish that every residential customer can complete cancellation entirely online.

  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset

Use chat or email to ask for the applicable cancellation process, document what you were told, and request written confirmation. The Go Kinetic portal is useful for reviewing bills and account status, but do not assume that logging in or unplugging the modem closes the account.

Cancellation fees and the final bill

Month-to-month accounts

Kinetic’s current online terms say month-to-month customers may cancel without a termination fee. You still owe charges through the disconnection date, and the terms say Kinetic may bill the full final month without prorating or crediting the unused portion of a billing period. Kinetic’s cancellation-fee FAQ also says it does not charge a termination fee, but that broad statement should not be treated as overriding a commitment in a customer’s specific agreement.

  • Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks

Fixed-term or promotional agreements

A fixed-term agreement, promotion, minimum purchase, or service-specific condition may create an early-termination charge. Kinetic’s current terms describe liquidated damages for a fixed-term residential agreement as 100% of the monthly recurring charge multiplied by the number of months remaining in the current term, subject to the agreement and applicable circumstances. This is not a universal fee for every Kinetic customer. Check the service order, promotion details, and first bill, then ask Kinetic to identify the exact provision and amount in writing. See also Kinetic’s residential offer conditions.

What to ask about the closing balance

Before ending the call, ask whether the final bill will include the full billing cycle and whether any other balances remain. Check for equipment, installation, security, voice, taxes, or other add-on charges, and ask whether an advance payment or deposit is refundable. A cancellation without a termination fee can still leave a final service bill or other account charges.

How to return Kinetic equipment

Kinetic’s product-specific terms state that a Kinetic modem must be returned within 30 days after service termination; a $100 charge may apply if it is not returned. Confirm the instructions for your specific devices, because the stated modem deadline and possible fee should not be assumed to cover every accessory in the same way.

  1. Ask whether each device is rented, leased, purchased, or part of a bundle, and get a list of equipment Kinetic expects back.
  2. Request a prepaid return label and the exact packing and shipping instructions.
  3. Record each device’s model and serial number; note the MAC address if visible. Photograph the devices, accessories, and packed box.
  4. Return all Kinetic-owned equipment the representative identifies, such as the modem or gateway, power adapter, extenders, security equipment, or voice hardware.
  5. Use a carrier with tracking. Keep the drop-off receipt and delivery confirmation until the final bill shows that any equipment charge has been removed or no longer applies.

What happens to a windstream.net email address?

Kinetic’s terms reserve the right to delete a windstream.net email account without notice after 180 consecutive days of inactivity. They do not establish a general guaranteed right to keep the address after Internet cancellation, so ask Kinetic specifically whether access will continue and for how long.

Moving, pausing, or canceling only part of the account

Moving to another Kinetic-served address

Ask about a transfer before requesting cancellation. Availability and technology can differ by address, and a move does not automatically establish that a fixed-term commitment or charge is waived. Get the account-specific terms in writing. Kinetic-related move guidance is available from Windstream support.

Leaving temporarily

If you will be away rather than moving permanently, ask whether the Kinetic Seasonal Plan is available for your account. Kinetic says some qualifying customers can place Internet and bundled voice on hold for one to six months at a reduced rate of $10. Eligibility depends on the plan and account status; confirm the rate, duration, and treatment of bundled services before choosing it.

Canceling Internet but keeping another service

Tell the representative which services should remain active and ask them to read back the final service list. Canceling Internet alone may not close a bundled Voice, security, or other service, which could continue billing.

AutoPay, final bills, and proof of closure

As practical account-management guidance, wait to remove AutoPay until the cancellation is confirmed, the final bill is issued, returned equipment is credited, and any remaining balance is paid or disputed. Removing payment too early can leave an unpaid final balance. At the same time, monitor the linked bank or card account for unexpected recurring debits after closure. If a charge is disputed, contact Kinetic first and preserve the cancellation confirmation; you can also use your payment provider’s dispute process where appropriate.

Save the cancellation confirmation, final bill, equipment tracking receipt, and delivery confirmation together. These records help establish the requested disconnect date and whether returned equipment reached Kinetic.

If Kinetic keeps billing you

  1. Call again and ask for the account or billing department. Give the confirmation number and request that the account be reviewed against the agreed disconnect date.
  2. Write down the date and time, representative’s name or ID, what they promised, and any new case or confirmation number.
  3. Restate the request through Kinetic’s written support or email channel. Include the account details needed to identify the issue and attach relevant confirmation or return-delivery records.
  4. If customer care does not resolve the problem, send a written dispute to Executive Customer Relations, 4005 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock, AR 72212. Kinetic’s terms identify this address for written disputes after an attempt to resolve the issue with Customer Care.
  5. If the matter remains unresolved, consider contacting the applicable state public-service commission, consumer-protection office, or the Federal Communications Commission. These are escalation options, not a guarantee of a particular outcome.
