The PS5 Pro’s original preorder window has passed: Sony opened preorders on September 26, 2024, and the console launched November 7, 2024. In October 2026, the practical task is finding a restock at a legitimate seller—not joining a launch preorder. Start with PlayStation Direct and retailers linked from Sony’s buying page, then check the seller and total price before paying. In the United States, Sony’s recommended price is now $899.99, effective April 2, 2026.
Where to look for a PS5 Pro restock
Sony lists PlayStation Direct and participating retailers as sales routes. Check PlayStation Direct first, then use the retailer links on Sony’s U.S. buying page. Those are places to check, not a guarantee of inventory; stock can change between visits.

A U.S. retailer roundup published October 7, 2026 reported the PS5 Pro out of stock at the major retailers it checked, while noting a brief PlayStation Direct restock on October 6 and marketplace offers above the recommended price. That is a dated snapshot, not a live stock report or a promise of another restock. Check retailer pages directly before making a purchase. Tom’s Guide’s October 7 stock update

For U.S. buyers, compare the displayed price with Sony’s current $899.99 recommended price, in effect since April 2, 2026. Sony’s $699.99 figure was the 2024 launch price and is no longer the current U.S. recommendation. Sony’s 2026 price announcement

- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
On retailer sites that host marketplace sellers, check who is actually selling the console and whether it is new or used. A third-party listing at a markup is not Sony’s price, even if it appears on a familiar retailer’s site. Compare the total shown at checkout, including shipping and any applicable taxes, rather than relying on a search-result price.
- Seller: Confirm whether the seller is the retailer itself or a marketplace vendor.
- Condition: Verify that the listing is for a new console if that is what you want.
- Total cost: Compare the checkout total with the current regional recommended price, not the old launch price.
- Included items: Check whether the listing includes the console and controller, and account separately for accessories sold separately.
Prepare for a restock without using checkout bots
There is no established, universally effective tactic for beating automated buyers. You can make an ordinary checkout faster by signing in to the retailer account you plan to use and confirming your shipping and payment details ahead of time. When stock appears, use the retailer’s normal checkout and follow its queue or purchase limits. Avoid services or tools that automate checkout or attempt to bypass purchase protections; preparation may save time, but it cannot guarantee a console.
Know what the console listing includes
Sony says the PS5 Pro includes a 2TB SSD and a DualSense wireless controller. The Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive and vertical stand are sold separately, so factor them into your budget if you need physical-disc playback or want the console upright. Sony’s PS5 Pro announcement and U.S. buying page

PS5 Pro Enhanced features are available only in selected games and vary by title. Sony’s 2024 announcement described hardware changes including more GPU compute units, faster memory, ray tracing, and AI-driven upscaling, but those manufacturer claims do not mean every game gets the same improvement. If performance is part of your reason for buying, check the specific game’s PS5 Pro support rather than assuming a universal boost. Current PS5 accessories are compatible, according to Sony.

Japan has a separate application process
Sony’s Japan-only PS5 Pro purchase application is not a general preorder route. As of October 8, 2026, Sony’s page said applications had closed and results were expected from around October 26, 2026. The stated conditions include a Sony account registered in Japan, at least 60 total hours of PS4 or PS5 play between September 27, 2024 and September 27, 2026 at 23:59, and the specified My Sony ID/sign-in ID linkage. If applications exceed the planned quantity, Sony says selection will be by lottery. The page lists model CFI-7100B01 at ¥137,980 including tax.
