To back up iPhone photos and videos to Koofr, turn on Auto Camera Upload in the Koofr iOS app, choose which media to upload and where to save it, then verify the files in Koofr before deleting anything from your iPhone. Uploads can be delayed by iOS, and background uploading depends on your app and iOS versions.
Set up automatic photo and video uploads

Install or update the Koofr app from the App Store, then sign in or create an account.

In Koofr, go to Home > Settings > Auto Camera Upload. If you are new to the app, you may see a setup prompt after signing in.

Turn on Backup photos and videos. Choose whether Koofr should upload existing media as well as new items, or only new media going forward. Koofr’s [help page](https://koofr.eu/help/koofr/how-to-backup-photos-and-videos-from-iphone/) describes this as a backup feature, not a sync.

Choose a destination folder. The default is My iOS Media; you can select another Koofr folder.

Set any preferences you want, such as organizing uploads into year-based folders, preserving creation dates for new uploads, including Live Photos, or allowing cellular data. Labels and options may vary by app version.
For a large first upload, keep Koofr open, leave the iPhone screen on, and use Wi-Fi while the phone is charging. Koofr recommends keeping the app open for uploads on iOS versions earlier than 26.4.

Understand background uploads and timing
Koofr says background auto-upload is supported with Koofr iOS app version 4.0.0 or later and iOS 26.4 or later. On earlier iOS versions, the app needs to remain open for automatic uploads. Even when both version requirements are met, iOS decides when background work runs; Koofr says uploads may happen minutes or hours apart rather than continuously.
Battery level, Low Power Mode, network conditions, device storage, thermal state, and other system activity can delay or limit background work. Do not treat the absence of an immediate upload as proof that setup failed.
Check that your files arrived

Open the destination folder in Koofr and confirm that the expected photos and videos are present. For an initial backup, check that it includes the older media you chose to upload, not just recent items.

Only after confirming the Koofr copies should you delete local originals if you need to free iPhone storage. Koofr says deleting a photo from the phone after upload does not delete its Koofr copy.

Troubleshoot uploads that stall or do not run in the background
On iOS 26.4 or later

On iOS versions earlier than 26.4
Keep Koofr open with the screen on while uploading. If uploads stop, Koofr’s guidance is to find the last uploaded file in the destination folder, locate the next item in Photos, and temporarily hide that item to see whether uploading resumes. Contact Koofr support if it does not.

Check account storage and destination changes
A full Koofr account can stop new uploads. Check available storage in your account; Koofr directs users to its web app for storage management rather than providing a direct in-app upgrade link.
If you change the destination folder and choose to back up all existing media, Koofr says it will back up the device’s media again. That can mean another upload of a large library. Koofr also says it renames duplicate filenames to avoid overwriting existing files, sometimes by adding a number such as “(1)”.
Koofr photo uploads are not a full iPhone backup
Auto Camera Upload makes a copy of camera-roll photos and videos in Koofr. It is separate from a device-wide iPhone backup, which covers other device data and settings. If you need protection for the whole phone, treat those as separate backup tasks; a successful photo upload alone does not establish that the rest of the iPhone is backed up.
