Those figures describe company performance and a cash distribution; they do not guarantee a particular share-price move or an investor’s total return. For eligible shareholders, the dividend is generally taxable, with tax withheld at source in specified cases.

What the results may mean for your shares
Revenue measures sales from operations, profit reflects the period’s reported earnings, and EPS expresses earnings per share. These measures can help you assess business performance, but they do not by themselves determine what a share is worth or how its price will move. Investors may also weigh expectations, business conditions and other information. A result that looks strong against a prior period does not establish that the market expected it or that the share price will rise.
#1 Best Overall
Your investment outcome also depends on your purchase price and timing, subsequent share-price changes, dividends received and taxes. The reported quarterly figures should therefore be kept separate from both the dividend and any gain or loss you may realize if you sell shares.
Who is eligible for the ₹12 dividend, and when is it paid?
TCS declared a second interim dividend of ₹12 per equity share for FY2026–27. The record date is October 14, 2026, and payment is scheduled for October 30, 2026. TCS says beneficial owners reflected in the relevant depository or company records on the record date are eligible. Check the issuer’s latest notice and exchange disclosures for any updated details.

The dividend is a cash distribution to eligible shareholders, not a guaranteed investment gain. Its amount does not, by itself, show whether your overall investment is profitable; that also depends on your purchase price, share-price movement and tax position. TCS’s dividend-payment details list dividend information, and the company says shareholders can buy its equity in India through a broker or financial institution providing brokerage at BSE or NSE. TCS says it has no direct stock purchase plan and no dividend reinvestment program.
How dividend tax and TDS work
Resident individuals
TCS’s current investor FAQ says dividends are taxable. For an individual whose aggregate dividend payable during the tax year exceeds ₹10,000, TCS says it withholds tax at source (TDS) at 10% if PAN is updated, or 20% if PAN is not updated. Its example indicates that when a payment takes the cumulative amount above the threshold, TDS applies to that payment; it is not retroactively deducted from earlier payments.
Rank #3
TDS is tax withheld before you receive the payment, not necessarily your final tax rate. The Income Tax Department says resident share dividends are taxable at the recipient’s applicable rate. It also says interest expense incurred to earn dividend income may be deducted only up to 20% of that dividend income. Your final tax position can therefore differ from the amount TCS withholds. See the Income Tax Department’s dividend-income guidance and TCS’s investor FAQs.
Non-resident shareholders
TCS’s FAQ states that dividend withholding for non-residents is 20% plus applicable surcharge and cess, subject to a lower applicable treaty rate when the required documentation is submitted. The applicable rate and paperwork depend on your tax residence and circumstances. Confirm the current treaty position and documentation requirements with a qualified tax professional.

Keep dividends separate from tax on selling shares
Dividend tax applies to dividend income; it is not the tax treatment for proceeds from selling shares. A sale may result in a capital gain or loss, but the current capital-gains holding periods and rates are not established here. Do not use the dividend withholding rates to estimate tax on a sale; check current official tax guidance for your situation.
