Blackburn Rovers’ owners have been assigned a wealth estimate of £1.66 billion by The72 in 2023, while a later secondary list puts the figure at $2 billion. Neither is an audited valuation, and neither establishes how much money is available to the club. The same later list gives higher estimates for the owners of Bristol City and Leicester City, but the figures do not form a reliable, like-for-like ranking.
What is known about Blackburn Rovers’ ownership?
Companies House identifies Venkys London Limited as Blackburn Rovers’ controlling corporate entity. Its control listing gives the company 75–100% of shares and voting rights, as well as the right to appoint directors. That is evidence of corporate control, not a valuation of the Rao family’s personal assets. Companies House’s control listing expresses the shareholding as a range, not an exact current percentage.
Blackburn’s latest accounts in the filing history cover the year ended 30 June 2025 and were filed on 3 April 2026. Company accounts describe the club and its finances; they do not establish the owners’ private net worth. The filing history records the accounts and filing date.
What are the reported wealth estimates?
The figures below are media or secondary-list estimates, not verified asset valuations. They also use different currencies and do not share an established, consistent date or method.

| Owner or ownership group | Reported estimate | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Blackburn Rovers’ owners, the Venky’s | £1.66 billion | The72’s Championship-owner ranking, March 2023; an attributed estimate, not an audited net worth. |
| Blackburn Rovers’ owners | $2 billion | A later Startrader.one owner-list entry; its snapshot date and methodology are not established. |
| Bristol City owner Stephen Lansdown | $2.6 billion | The same Startrader.one list; date and methodology are not established. |
| Leicester City’s Srivaddhanaprabha family | $3.5 billion | The same Startrader.one list; date and methodology are not established. |
The £1.66 billion figure is attributed to The72’s March 2023 ranking. The dollar estimates appear in Startrader.one’s owner list. Because the list’s date and calculation method are unclear, its figures are best treated as rough indications rather than a definitive comparison.
Are Blackburn’s owners among the Championship’s wealthiest?
On the later secondary list alone, Blackburn’s reported $2 billion estimate is below the $2.6 billion attributed to Bristol City’s Stephen Lansdown and the $3.5 billion attributed to Leicester City’s Srivaddhanaprabha family. That comparison is limited to those entries and does not establish an authoritative ranking of all Championship owners. The list’s estimates are not sufficiently documented to support precise conclusions about who is richest.

The 2023 estimate for Blackburn is in pounds, while the later list uses dollars. Without a shared valuation date, currency basis and method, those two Blackburn figures should not be read as evidence that the family’s wealth rose or fell.

Club finances help explain the scale of money involved in the Championship, but they are not a proxy for an owner’s net worth or available cash. Deloitte’s 2025 review reported that Championship net debt reached £1.5 billion at the end of 2023/24. It identified Leicester City’s £219 million as the highest club net debt in the division in that period. It also reported £554 million in owner equity injections across 12 clubs in 2023/24. These are separate club-level measures: debt is a liability, while an equity injection is money put into a club, not the owner’s total fortune. See Deloitte’s 2025 Annual Review of Football Finance.

- Estimated personal or family wealth is a media estimate of assets and liabilities, often with an unclear method.
- Club net debt is a measure of the club’s own financial position.
- Owner equity injected records funding provided to a club during a stated period; it does not measure the owner’s total wealth or future commitment.
None of the figures cited quantifies how much of the Venky’s reported wealth is available to Blackburn, or how much they intend to spend. A high estimate cannot by itself show a club’s spending capacity, and club debt cannot establish an owner’s private wealth.
