That range was attributed to VINwiki by Agora Motor; it is a reported estimate, not a confirmed sale value or a documented formal appraisal of every car.
What was the 2023 estimate?
Agora Motor reported that VINwiki’s appraisal discussion valued the 185-car list at $80 million to $100 million. VINwiki published its video, “We Appraised JAY LENO’s Car Collection (185 cars!),” on January 17, 2023. Supercars.net says the video reviewed a researched list with automotive specialists, but did not go through all 185 cars. The sources therefore do not establish that every vehicle received an individual valuation.
The figure is best understood as a broad media estimate for that researched list—not an exact accounting of Leno’s assets, a realized sale price, or a formal appraisal report. Agora Motor’s 2023 account is the source for the specific $80 million to $100 million range; Supercars.net provides context about the video and its scope. VINwiki’s video is available at YouTube.
Why estimates differ
A 2024 CarParts.com explainer gives a lower starting point, putting the rough estimate range at $52 million to $100 million. It notes that one-off cars and changing rare-car prices make a precise total difficult to determine. This later range does not establish that VINwiki’s 2023 estimate was corrected; the sources report different estimates at different times.

Neither range should be treated as a current, verified total. Collection counts also vary by date and source: the 2023 appraisal discussion concerns a researched list of 185 cars, while Leno later told interviewer Kerry Eggers that about 210 cars and 168 motorcycles were stored at his garage. Those later figures should not be combined with the 2023 list as though they described the same inventory at the same time.
CarParts.com’s 2024 explainer discusses why the collection’s total is difficult to pin down. Leno himself declined to give a total in Kerry Eggers’s interview, saying, “I really don’t know what it’s worth.” He added that he never sells anything. That is his view of the practical meaning of a value for cars he keeps; it does not prove the vehicles have no market value.

What the named car estimates show
Agora Motor highlighted individual figures for several notable vehicles. These are estimates reported by that article, not independently verified appraisals or confirmed transaction prices.
| Vehicle | Estimate reported by Agora Motor in 2023 |
|---|---|
| Pratt and Miller C6RS Corvette | About $300,000 |
| 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car | $5 million to $10 million |
| Duesenberg J Walker Coupe | $2.7 million to $3.2 million |
| McLaren F1 | About $16 million |
| Bugatti Type 51 | About $3.2 million |
These examples help explain how a handful of rare, high-value cars can influence a collection-wide estimate. They do not add up to a valuation of all 185 cars, and they should not be read as prices Leno received or could necessarily receive in a sale.
