That was a reported proposal—not a confirmed payment by Rocky or a completed takeover.
What was the reported price?
On 21 October 2024, ITV News Granada put the proposed deal at £15 million for 80% of Tranmere Rovers. ITV said the club declined to comment on the speculation. Read ITV News Granada’s report.
The figure should be understood as the value reported for the proposed majority stake, not as an official valuation or proof that anyone paid that amount.
Was A$AP Rocky personally buying the club?
Reports described Rocky as being part of an investment group led by lawyer Joe Tacopina; they did not establish that Rocky was personally making the offer. BBC Sport reported that the group was interested in buying an 80% stake, but did not independently confirm a price. Tranmere joint owner Mark Palios said the club had been seeking investment for almost two years and had been approached, without confirming Rocky’s involvement. BBC Sport’s 22 October 2024 report quotes Palios saying the club wanted a resolution “ASAP” and had not put up a for-sale sign.

Why did some reports give a different figure?
The reported amount was not expressed consistently. ITV stated £15 million, while Sky News on 24 October 2024 described the initial Sun on Sunday report as saying the group sought an 80% stake for around $15 million (£11.6 million). That is Sky’s account of the earlier report, not a separately confirmed sale price. Sky News’ report.

The available reporting does not establish that the Rocky-linked proposal completed. In May 2025, BBC Sport reported that an offer to buy shares had been accepted the previous year but completion was delayed, and that three groups were vying for control. It noted Rocky had been reported as part of Tacopina’s group, but did not confirm that group completed a purchase or state the final status of its proposal. BBC Sport’s 16 May 2025 update.
Tranmere Rovers Football Club Limited’s Companies House filing history includes later share-capital filings, but those records do not by themselves identify Rocky or Tacopina as a buyer or verify the rumored price. View the company’s filing history.
So the best-supported answer is the attributed headline figure: £15 million for an 80% stake, as reported by ITV in October 2024. The amount and the involvement or completion of any Rocky-linked deal were not confirmed by the cited reporting.
