Feyenoord told Dutch broadcaster NOS that Raheem Sterling would receive less than €1 million for his services through the end of the 2025/26 season. By comparison, FBref’s 2025/26 wage table, using Capology data, estimates his former Chelsea wage at £325,000 gross per week, or £16.9 million gross per year. Those figures cover different periods and come from different kinds of evidence, so they are not a like-for-like salary comparison.
Feyenoord pay: less than €1 million for the rest of the season
Feyenoord told NOS that Sterling’s compensation for his services through the end of the 2025/26 season would be under €1 million. NOS reported that eleven matches remained when the club disclosed the amount. The figure is for the remainder of that season, not an annual salary or a published weekly rate. NOS reported the club’s figure on 15 February 2026.
NOS also said the amount was not €2 million, correcting claims that Sterling would receive that sum. The club’s reported disclosure does not provide a full breakdown of base pay, bonuses, tax, or net take-home income.
How that compares with his Chelsea wage
| Figure | Period and basis | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Less than €1 million | Through the end of the 2025/26 season | Feyenoord’s amount as reported by NOS; eleven matches remained when it was disclosed. |
| £325,000 per week; £16.9 million per year | 2025/26 wage-table estimates; gross figures | FBref attributes these estimates to Capology. They are not an official Chelsea payroll disclosure. See FBref’s Chelsea wage table. |
| More than £300,000 per week | Reported Chelsea contract value; no exact settlement amount given | BBC Sport described Sterling’s contract as worth in excess of this amount and reported a settlement over its remaining 18 months. BBC Sport’s report. |
The comparison shows a substantial difference in the reported figures, but it cannot establish an exact pay cut or ratio. The Feyenoord amount is a short-period disclosure in euros; the Chelsea figures are gross weekly and annual estimates in pounds. The sources do not establish equivalent periods, bonus-inclusive totals, or Sterling’s net pay.

Why the two figures cover different contracts
Chelsea announced Sterling’s departure by mutual agreement on 28 January 2026. BBC Sport reported that the parties reached a settlement concerning the remaining 18 months of his Chelsea contract, but did not state the settlement amount. Chelsea’s announcement.
Feyenoord announced on 12 February 2026 that Sterling had joined as a free agent on an agreement through the end of the 2025/26 season.
