Earlier media reports also cited roughly $15–$20 per practice hour and about $500 per game, but TIME reported that the Cowboys did not confirm those rates. They should be treated as media-reported estimates, not official contract terms.
How much did the 2025 raise change pay?
In June 2025, squad member Megan McElaney said the cheerleaders received a 400% increase. The Associated Press described the announcement as pay becoming four times the prior amount and quoted McElaney saying, “Our efforts were heard and they wanted to give us a raise.”

The public announcement does not provide a complete new rate card for rehearsals, games, promotions and shows. Because the phrase “400% increase” and the description “four times” are not a full contract schedule, they should not be used to claim a specific new dollar amount for every work category.
Why there is no reliable annual salary figure
The official Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders audition rules say there is a separate pay schedule for “rehearsals, home football games, promo appearances & shows.” The rules also require two to five mandatory rehearsals per week before the season begins. A performer’s total compensation therefore depends on several variables:
- Hourly rehearsal work and the number of rehearsal hours
- Home-game and other appearance fees
- Promotional events and shows
- The number of assignments actually worked
- Individual contract terms, expenses and any unpaid preparation time
Multiplying a per-game fee by the number of football games omits rehearsal and non-game work and assumes every cheerleader works the same schedule. That is why a game-day rate cannot be converted into a guaranteed yearly salary from the public information alone.

2024–2025 season

You can build an estimate only by adding documented categories:
- Multiply the applicable hourly rehearsal rate by paid rehearsal hours.
- Add appearance fees for the actual number of paid games or events.
- Add compensation for promotional appearances and shows under their separate rates.
- Subtract any relevant costs that the contract places on the performer, if those costs are known.
Without those inputs, an annual number is speculative. TIME attributed an earlier annualized figure of about $75,000 to NBC Boston reporting, but also noted that the Cowboys did not verify the underlying rates. It is not a guaranteed official salary and should not be presented as one.
