That figure was reported by WrestlingNewsSource on December 20, 2023, as Nash’s remark on the Kliq This podcast—not as a sales result confirmed by WWE.
What was the reported 24-hour merchandise figure?
The amount attributed to Punk is approximately $600,000 in merchandise sales during the first 24 hours after he returned to WWE. WrestlingNewsSource quoted Nash saying, “I think he did $600,000 worth of merchandise like the first 24 hours that he came back.” WrestlingNewsSource’s December 20, 2023 report linked the remark to an episode of the Kliq This podcast.
The wording matters: Nash said “I think,” and the available report does not establish an audited figure or a separate confirmation from WWE. It is best described as a reported estimate attributed to Nash, rather than an official WWE sales statistic.
How does that compare with WWE’s Survivor Series record?
Punk made his surprise return at WWE’s Survivor Series: WarGames on November 25, 2023, after nearly a decade away from the company. WWE later announced that the event set a merchandise-sales record. The two claims have different scope and support:

| Claim | Scope | Source and status |
|---|---|---|
| About $600,000 in the first 24 hours | Merchandise attributed to Punk after his return | Kevin Nash’s remark, reported by WrestlingNewsSource; not independently confirmed as a WWE figure |
| Best merchandise sales in the event’s 37-year history | Survivor Series as a whole | WWE’s official November 28, 2023 announcement, made in partnership with Fanatics |
WWE’s announcement said Survivor Series set “new records for the highest viewership, largest gate and best merchandise sales in the event’s 37-year history.” It did not assign a dollar amount to Punk’s merchandise or say how much of the event-wide record his products represented.
What made Punk’s return a major moment for WWE?
WWE reported that 17,138 people attended Survivor Series: WarGames, viewership was 44 percent above the prior Survivor Series record, and Punk’s comeback moment had more than 71 million views across platforms. These are WWE’s event and video-viewership figures; they provide context for the attention surrounding the return, but they do not verify the $600,000 sales claim.

“Merchandise” is a broad category, not necessarily one shirt or one product. WWE Shop’s current CM Punk catalog includes shirts and other products, as well as collectibles and memorabilia. It shows the kinds of items sold under Punk’s name now; it does not document what products were purchased during the 24-hour period in 2023.

WWE and Fanatics had announced that Fanatics would manage WWE’s global event merchandise operations beginning May 1, 2023, while also serving as WWE’s e-commerce and licensed-merchandise partner. Their partnership announcement explains the merchandise relationship around the event, but provides no Punk-specific sales breakdown.
