What is Arthur Morgan’s bounty?
In Red Dead Redemption 2, Agent Andrew Milton tells Arthur: “You’re a wanted man, Mr. Morgan. Five thousand dollars for your head alone.” The dialogue gives the bounty as $5,000. What this inflation comparison tells you—and what it doesn’t
A CPI conversion estimates how much money would buy a broadly comparable basket of consumer goods and services. It is useful for translating the bounty into a familiar present-day purchasing-power figure, but it does not tell you whether $5,000 made Arthur unusually rich, how large the reward was relative to typical earnings, or how much it mattered to law enforcement.
