A Florida resident freshwater fishing license is listed at $17 for one year or $79 for five years by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Prices include the statutory issuance fee; a vendor may add 50 cents. Confirm the final price in FWC’s checkout system before buying.
Florida resident freshwater license prices
| License option | FWC listed price | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Annual freshwater | $17.00 | Freshwater fishing for one year |
| Five-year freshwater | $79.00 | Freshwater fishing for five years |
These are the prices listed on the FWC freshwater recreational license page, retrieved in 2026. The fee page says its displayed prices include an issuance fee authorized by statute. A license or permit vendor may charge an additional 50 cents, so the amount due can depend on how you purchase.
Other resident license options
If you also need saltwater fishing or hunting privileges, compare the annual combination licenses rather than adding standalone fees without checking coverage. FWC lists these resident prices:
| Annual resident option | FWC listed price | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Freshwater/saltwater combination | $32.50 | Freshwater and saltwater fishing |
| Freshwater/hunting combination | $32.50 | Freshwater fishing and hunting |
| Freshwater/saltwater/hunting combination | $48.00 | Freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, and hunting |
For a longer-term purchase, FWC also lists lifetime freshwater licenses at age-based prices. Each includes a plastic card:
| Age when purchased | FWC listed lifetime price |
|---|---|
| 4 or younger | $126.50 |
| 5–12 | $226.50 |
| 13 and older | $301.50 |
See the FWC lifetime license fee page for those prices. The annual, five-year, combination, and lifetime options have different durations or privileges, so compare what you need as well as the listed amount.
Who needs a freshwater fishing license?
FWC says a freshwater license is “Required to take or attempt to take native or nonnative freshwater fish.” Florida law exempts a resident age 65 or older who possesses proof of both age and residency. The exemption is not simply an age threshold: the resident must have the required proof in their possession. See Florida Statutes, section 379.354, and FWC’s license requirements for other exemptions and circumstances.

How to confirm the amount you will pay
- Choose the license type and duration that match your needs on FWC’s freshwater recreational license page.
- Use FWC’s license system to check the current checkout total and available purchasing methods. A vendor may add 50 cents to the listed fee.
- If you want a hard, credit-card-style license, note that FWC says it is available for an additional charge; the amount is not stated on the fee page cited here.
License prices and purchase details can change, so use the checkout total as the final amount rather than relying on an older price listing.
