Media reports put José Mourinho’s cumulative compensation after leaving clubs before his contracts expired at €108.1 million. That is a reported estimate, not an audited career total or proof of what Mourinho personally kept. It includes an estimated €15 million from Fenerbahçe, a figure attributed to Turkish media rather than confirmed by the club.
Reported compensation by club
The figures below are the reported euro amounts used in career-total recaps by ge in 2025 and AS in 2025. The two Chelsea entries refer to separate departures.
| Club and departure | Reported compensation | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Chelsea, first departure | €20.9 million | Retrospective media-reported figure; no settlement document is cited in the reviewed reporting. |
| Chelsea, second departure | €9.6 million | Retrospective media-reported figure; no settlement document is cited in the reviewed reporting. |
| Real Madrid | €19.7 million | Reported figure in the career-total recaps. |
| Manchester United | €22 million | Reported euro figure in the career-total recaps; see the separate club disclosure below. |
| Tottenham | €17.4 million | Reported figure in the career-total recaps. |
| Roma | €3.5 million | Reported figure in the career-total recaps. |
| Fenerbahçe | About €15 million | Estimate attributed to Turkish media; not disclosed in the club’s departure announcement. |
| Reported total | €108.1 million | Press-calculated aggregate, not a consolidated accounting statement. |
The amounts add up to the reported total. They use euros as a common comparison currency, although the underlying contracts and payments span different years. Ge’s report converted the aggregate to about R$686 million on 29 August 2025; that is a dated conversion, not a separate payment figure.
Why the total is not a confirmed personal payout
Fenerbahçe’s estimate is not a disclosed settlement
Fenerbahçe announced Mourinho’s departure in August 2025. The club statement, quoted by AS, said he had left the club and thanked him for his work; it did not state a compensation amount. The roughly €15 million figure was attributed to Turkish press reporting. The available reporting does not establish the final settlement or Mourinho’s individual share.

Manchester United disclosed a combined amount
Manchester United’s 2019 second-quarter results included an exceptional item of £19.6 million relating to compensation for the former manager and certain members of the coaching staff for loss of office, as reported by BBC Sport. That is a club-disclosed combined amount in pounds, not Mourinho’s personal payment. It is distinct from the €22 million Manchester United figure in the career-total lists.
Gross compensation is not take-home money
The reported total does not show how much Mourinho ultimately retained after taxes, legal costs, contractual offsets, or any division of a club’s compensation among multiple recipients. The reviewed reports do not provide a net-receipts figure.
