In the U.S., true wireless earbuds cost roughly $20 to more than $300. For many buyers, $80–$150 is the practical value range: it can buy useful noise cancellation, app controls and solid everyday performance without paying flagship prices. Spend more when better noise cancellation, calls, comfort or phone-specific features will make a difference in regular use.
Wireless earbud prices at a glance
This guide is about true wireless stereo earbuds: two separate earpieces that connect to a device over Bluetooth and usually recharge in a case. Neckband earphones, over-ear headphones, wired earbuds, hearing aids and open-ear clip-on designs are different product categories, so their prices are not directly comparable.

| Price range | What buyers generally get | Common trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Under $30 | Basic Bluetooth listening, microphones and a charging case; app support varies. | Microphone quality, fit consistency, durability and software support may be limited. |
| $30–$80 | Often better sound tuning and battery life, with companion apps, EQ or basic ANC on some models. | Noise cancellation and calls can be less capable than on stronger mid-range models. |
| $80–$150 | A competitive value tier, often including functional ANC, transparency mode, improved connectivity and better controls. | Performance and comfort still vary by model; a feature’s presence does not guarantee quality. |
| $150–$220 | Upper mid-range choices may improve ANC, calls, software, spatial audio or charging features. | Some features work best, or only, with particular phones. |
| $220–$350+ | Flagship models emphasize ANC, ecosystem integration, specialized audio or health features, and refined designs. | Improvements are often specific rather than a proportional upgrade in every area. |
These are practical comparison bands, not formal industry standards. Budget models can include features once associated with pricier earbuds; independent buying guides cover ANC and companion apps among sub-$100 options (SoundGuys; WIRED).
What changes as the price rises?
Noise cancellation and transparency
ANC can be useful on airplanes, public transit, in open offices or around household noise. It is less compelling if you mostly listen at home, use earbuds briefly for podcasts, dislike sealed ear tips or prioritize battery life. ANC generally handles steady low-frequency rumble better than voices or sudden sounds. Fit matters: a poor seal can undermine both passive isolation and ANC, and a higher price alone does not prove that cancellation is effective.

- JBL Deep Bass Sound: Get the most from your mixes with high-quality audio from secure, reliable earbuds with 8mm drivers featuring JBL Deep Bass Sound
- Comfortable fit: The ergonomic, stick-closed design of the JBL Vibe Beam fits so comfortably you may forget you're wearing them. The closed design excludes external sounds, enhancing the bass performance
- Up to 32 (8h + 24h) hours of battery life and speed charging: With 8 hours of battery life in the earbuds and 24 in the case, the JBL Vibe Beam provide all-day audio. When you need more power, you can speed charge an extra two hours in just 10 minutes.
- Hands-free calls with VoiceAware: When you're making hands-free stereo calls on the go, VoiceAware lets you balance how much of your own voice you hear while talking with others
- Water and dust resistant: From the beach to the bike trail, the IP54-certified earbuds and IPX2 charging case are water and dust resistant for all-day experiences
Transparency or ambient mode lets outside sound through. Pricier earbuds may offer more natural reproduction and finer controls, but treat that as a quality distinction—not simply a feature that is either present or absent.
Calls, fit and sound
For frequent calls, microphone design and processing—such as multiple microphones, beamforming and wind-noise reduction—may matter more than a music-oriented feature. Fit is just as individual: tip size and ear shape affect comfort, bass and isolation. A costly model that hurts or will not stay in place is poor value, so check the seller’s return terms before buying.

- WORLD’S BEST IN-EAR ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Removes up to 2x more unwanted noise than AirPods Pro 2* so you can stay fully immersed in the moment.*
- BREAKTHROUGH AUDIO PERFORMANCE — Experience breathtaking, three-dimensional audio with AirPods Pro 3. A new acoustic architecture delivers transformed bass, detailed clarity so you can hear every instrument, and stunningly vivid vocals.
- HEART RATE SENSING — Built-in heart rate sensing lets you track your heart rate and calories burned for up to 50 different workout types.* With iPhone, you will have access to the Move ring, step count, and the new Workout Buddy,* powered by Apple Intelligence.*
- LIVE TRANSLATION — Communicate across language barriers using Live Translation,* enabled by Apple Intelligence.*
- EXTENDED BATTERY LIFE — Get up to 8 hours of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation on a single charge. Or up to 10 hours in Transparency using the Hearing Aid feature.*
Higher price does not guarantee sound you will prefer. Tuning is subjective, and independent testing is more useful than a generic “premium sound” label. Open-ear earbuds are a separate trade-off: they allow more environmental awareness but usually provide less isolation and bass impact than sealed designs.
Battery, charging and durability
Compare the stated listening time per charge with the case-assisted total, and check whether those figures are with ANC on or off. Quick-charge claims and wireless charging can also distinguish models. Manufacturer battery figures are estimates under controlled conditions, not guaranteed results; volume, calls, ANC, codec, temperature and battery age can affect runtime.

- Powerful Bass: soundcore P20i true wireless earbuds have oversized 10mm drivers that deliver powerful sound with boosted bass so you can lose yourself in your favorite songs.
- Personalized Listening Experience: Use the soundcore app to customize the controls and choose from 22 EQ presets. With "Find My Earbuds", a lost earbud can emit noise to help you locate it.
- Long Playtime, Fast Charging: Get 10 hours of battery life on a single charge with a case that extends it to 30 hours. If P20i true wireless earbuds are low on power, a quick 10-minute charge will give you 2 hours of playtime.
- Portable On-the-Go Design: soundcore P20i true wireless earbuds and the charging case are compact and lightweight with a lanyard attached. It's small enough to slip in your pocket, or clip on your bag or keys–so you never worry about space.
- AI-Enhanced Clear Calls: 2 built-in mics and an AI algorithm work together to pick up your voice so that you never have to shout over the phone.
Water resistance is not waterproofing. A sweat or rain rating does not mean a pair is suitable for swimming or submersion. Nor is a premium price proof that the battery or earbuds will last longer: longevity depends on use, charging, storage and product design.
Apps and phone-specific features
Companion apps can add EQ, remappable controls, firmware updates, find-my-earbuds tools, multipoint and personalization. Check which features work with your phone. For example, Samsung says Galaxy Buds4 Pro UHQ 24-bit/96 kHz playback requires specific Galaxy devices running One UI 6.1.1 or later (Samsung compatibility details). A feature listed on the box may not be available across every Bluetooth device.

And you can track down your AirPods and Charging Case with the Find My app.*

How much should you spend?
Choose a spending ceiling by use
- Under $50: Reasonable for basic listening, an occasional backup, or a pair you may lose. Accept fewer controls and potentially weaker calls; do not pay extra for ANC unless independent testing supports the model.
- $80–$150: A sensible starting budget for many buyers who want everyday ANC, EQ or app controls and a better feature balance. Sub-$100 options can offer ANC and personalization, according to SoundGuys.
- $150–$220: Consider this band if you commute often or rely on calls and want to compare stronger ANC, transparency, fit and controls.
- $220–$350+: Set this ceiling when flagship performance, specialized features or phone integration will get regular use—not just because a product is labeled premium.
Match the earbuds to your devices
- iPhone: AirPods can be worth the premium if Apple-specific integration, such as device switching, Siri-related controls, Find My or supported audio features, matters to you. Android buyers may get less value from those features.
- Samsung Galaxy: Galaxy Buds offer the deepest Samsung integration, but some capabilities depend on compatible Galaxy hardware and software.
- Pixel or other Android phone: Pixel Buds offer Google-oriented assistant and Pixel features. Google says Pixel Buds 2a pair with Bluetooth 4.0-or-newer devices, including iOS devices, tablets and laptops, while some assistant and ecosystem features require Android (Google’s product page).
- Windows, Mac or mixed devices: Prioritize multipoint, useful app support and Bluetooth compatibility over matching one brand. Basic pairing does not guarantee every app or advanced feature works.
- Frequent calls or commuting: Spend more only if tested call handling or ANC addresses a real daily need; fit remains essential.
- Music-first or specialist listening: Compare independent sound evaluations, supported codecs and tuning preferences rather than assuming the most expensive model sounds best.
Are earbuds over $250 worth it?
Sometimes. A premium pair can make financial sense if you use it for hours every day and value excellent ANC, call quality, transparency, comfort, spatial audio, wireless charging or health and assistant features that your devices actually support. It is harder to justify that price for occasional podcasts, a backup pair or basic workouts. A $250 model is not automatically twice as good as a $125 one; the extra cost often buys a more specialized improvement or closer ecosystem integration.
Best Value

What the checkout price leaves out
The sticker price is not the whole cost. Add sales tax and account for replacement tips, a lost earbud or charging case, a protection plan, battery degradation, or return shipping. Replacement parts and their prices are not established consistently across the cited product pages, so check the manufacturer’s support information before buying if repairability matters.
- Accessories: Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 page says a USB-C charge cable and power adapter are not included. You may not need either if you already own compatible charging equipment.
- Protection: Samsung lists Samsung Care+ for Galaxy Buds4 Pro at $29 for a two-year term on its purchase page. Read exclusions; protection plans may not cover loss.
- Refurbished or open-box: A lower price can come with different warranty coverage, return terms or battery condition. Verify all three before comparing it with a new pair.
- Seller and return policy: Confirm the seller, warranty, authenticity and return terms. A bargain listing from an unfamiliar marketplace seller can carry risks that an official or established retailer does not.
How to judge a deal
- Start with list price. MSRP helps compare how manufacturers position products, but it is not necessarily what buyers commonly pay.
- Check the street price. Compare the actual retailer price for the same model and generation. Buying guides such as TechRadar’s distinguish official launch prices from real-world pricing.
- Separate discounts from baseline value. A temporary promotion, bundle or trade-in is not the regular price. Compare the final amount after conditions, not the advertised percentage off.
- Assess older generations carefully. A discounted previous flagship may be a good buy, but consider remaining software support, battery age and replacement-part availability.
- Check warranty and returns before choosing open-box or refurbished. Make sure the savings compensate for any difference in coverage or return rights.
Before paying extra, ask whether you will use the feature often, whether it works with your phone, and whether independent testing shows it performs well. For ANC, calls and battery, a feature name or maximum claim is not a substitute for a measured result.
