It combines live product information with item comparison and a route to submit a requisition for approval inside Ivalua, rather than making buyers search each supplier site separately.
What Ivalua Search 360 does
Ivalua announced Search360 on April 12, 2019, describing it as a way to search across hosted and external supplier catalogs. Its current eProcurement page positions Search 360 as “a one-stop product discovery with instant comparisons and built-in spend control.” The feature sits within a broader purchasing process that includes catalog administration, external-marketplace integration, guided buying, approvals, purchase orders, receiving, budgets and compliance controls. In practical terms, a buyer searches once, reviews items from connected catalogs together, compares options and proceeds through the organization’s procurement approval workflow. The goal is to make a wider set of supplier products discoverable while keeping purchasing within company rules and supplier relationships.
How cross-catalog search works
The 2019 announcement says Search360 uses fuzzy and elastic search, auto-complete and faceted search. These features are intended to help buyers find relevant items even when search terms do not exactly match catalog wording, refine results, and see relevant products together rather than navigating generic links and separate supplier or marketplace sites.
#1 Best Overall
Ivalua says supplier product information, pricing and availability are linked to the platform in real time. Buyers can compare items side by side and continue to checkout for approval inside Ivalua eProcurement. “Real time” describes the information connection in the announcement; it does not establish that every supplier, catalog or implementation has identical data coverage or update timing. What it means for buyers and procurement teams
- More discoverable options: Combining local and punch-out catalogs in a single search can expose buyers to a broader selection without requiring a separate search journey for each supplier.
- Comparison before requisition: Buyers can review product alternatives together before submitting a purchase for approval.
- Controls in the purchasing flow: Ivalua describes the capability as preserving company policy controls and supplier relationships. Catalog governance and approval workflows are important to that proposition; the feature should not be mistaken for proof that every purchase will automatically comply with a policy.
- Potential reduction in off-catalog buying: Ivalua’s cross-catalog page says wider selection and controlled catalog content can help reduce off-catalog purchases and price mismatches. These are stated benefits, not quantified outcomes guaranteed for every organization. Ivalua cross-catalog search
What it means for suppliers
Ivalua says direct linking can improve customer access to supplier products, surface current pricing and availability, and reduce errors. The company also described a standardized, one-time onboarding approach. Manutan collaborated with Ivalua as a pilot supplier, and the 2019 announcement said Search360 was broadly available to Ivalua customers at launch. Those statements describe the launch; they do not establish the present availability or onboarding terms for any particular supplier or customer deployment. Ivalua’s Search360 announcement
What to assess before adopting cross-catalog search
Search results are only as useful as the catalogs and integrations behind them. Organizations assessing Search 360 should establish how their own supplier set and purchasing rules will be represented, rather than assuming that a one-screen search guarantees complete coverage or savings.
- Catalog breadth: Which local, hosted, punch-out and marketplace catalogs are included?
- Data freshness: How are supplier price and availability updates transmitted, and what happens when a source cannot return current information?
- Search and refinement: Which catalogs support fuzzy matching, auto-complete and faceted filtering?
- Governance: Who controls which products are visible, and how are contracts, preferred suppliers and policy restrictions applied?
- Purchase flow: Can buyers compare alternatives and submit requisitions for approval without leaving the procurement workflow?
- Integration and onboarding: What work is needed for ERP connections, supplier onboarding and ongoing catalog maintenance?
- Outcomes: How will the organization measure off-catalog buying, price mismatches, search time and policy compliance after implementation?
Bottom line
Ivalua Search 360 is a cross-catalog discovery capability within Ivalua eProcurement: it brings connected supplier products into a unified search, supports comparison, and keeps requisition approval in the procurement workflow. Its value depends on the organization’s catalog coverage, integration quality and governance—not merely on having a single search box.
