Wrexham’s move for Lewis O’Brien is already complete: the club signed the Nottingham Forest midfielder in July 2025. The fee was reported as undisclosed, so no confirmed amount supports the claim that it was “not a small amount.”
What is known about Wrexham’s fee for Lewis O’Brien?
BBC Sport reported on 24 July 2025 that Wrexham signed O’Brien from Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal, but described the fee as undisclosed and did not publish a figure. That means there is no confirmed bid amount or transfer fee to report from that account. BBC Sport’s report also quoted O’Brien saying, “It’s been a long time coming, but to be here is great.”
The Football Association’s 2025–26 transactions record separately lists Lewis John O’Brien as a permanent transfer in for Wrexham, corroborating that the move was permanent. The FA transactions record does not establish a fee.
When did the transfer happen, and how long is his contract?
The signing was announced on 24 July 2025. BBC Sport reported that O’Brien’s deal runs through the end of the 2027–28 season. These details describe the completed 2025 transfer, not a current bid.

Why is the “will bid” framing out of date?
Wrexham had already signed O’Brien in July 2025. Separately, the Premier League lists the 2026 summer transfer window as running from 15 June to 1 September 2026 and marks it closed. That window status does not establish any later transfer activity involving O’Brien; it simply means the headline’s suggestion of a current summer bid is not an accurate description of the reported 2025 signing. The Premier League’s transfer page provides the 2026 window dates.
