That was a forecast, not the sale price. A report published on 12 March 2025 said the wheel sold for more than $10,000 and was heading to Victoria, but did not disclose an exact final price.
What Ross’s expected the Ferris wheel to bring
Before the sale, Henry said he would like to think the wheel might sell for $10,000–$20,000, but that the result was difficult to predict. His estimate was reported by PerthNow/Mandurah Times on 5 February 2025. It should be read as a tentative pre-auction estimate, not a guaranteed value or confirmed transaction price.
What happened at the sale
Follow-up reporting on 12 March 2025 said the wheel sold for more than $10,000 and was being taken to Victoria. The article did not state the exact amount paid, so the final price cannot be narrowed down from that report. The result is consistent with part of Henry’s estimated range, but it does not establish where within that range the sale landed—or whether the reported figure was the hammer price or included other charges.
The owner, David Miller, had hoped the wheel would stay in Mandurah. He told the Mandurah Times that the City had declined his offer to acquire it because of ongoing maintenance. Before the sale, Miller feared that without a buyer the ride might be dismantled and potentially never seen again. The reported move to Victoria meant his hope of keeping it local was not realized. The February report covered the estimate and local concerns; the March report gave the sale update and destination.

The catalogue said the buyer was responsible for dismantling and removal at their own expense, and recommended that appropriately qualified personnel inspect the work required. What else King Carnival auctioned
The closing-down sale covered far more than the wheel. Its online catalogue separated major rides and amusements from arcade and vintage games, as well as props, signs and catering equipment. Reported items included dodgem cars and fortune-telling machines; catalogue lots also included a vintage sanitary napkin vending machine and a photo of the Ferris wheel printed on canvas.
