What happened to Simon Jordan’s Crystal Palace ownership?
Jordan bought Crystal Palace in 2000. The Guardian reported that the purchase price was £10.6 million. In January 2010, Palace entered administration. The club’s subsequent rescue was completed by CPFC 2010, which acquired the club, ground and players, rather than through a reported direct sale by Jordan.
The Guardian’s account of the rescue says the package was secured for less than the £12 million Rock Investments had earlier paid Ron Noades for Selhurst Park. That comparison is not a precise purchase price for the package, and it does not establish what Jordan personally received. The sources do not disclose a specific amount paid to him when his ownership ended.

The £10.6 million and £36.5 million figures appeared in the same 2000 report, but they describe separate transactions: Jordan bought Palace and sold his phone retail business. Neither supplies a sale price for his eventual departure from Palace.

Why does Sheffield Wednesday appear in the headline?
Palace and Sheffield Wednesday met on the final day of the 2009–10 Championship season. Their 2–2 draw in May 2010 kept Palace in the Championship and relegated Wednesday. The contemporary report also described Wednesday speaking with interested parties about a takeover. That was a separate club’s investment situation, not evidence about the price of Jordan’s Palace ownership.

Later coverage of Wednesday’s takeover process is another distinct story. In January 2026, The National reported Jordan’s view that Wednesday presented an opportunity for investors. That reporting concerned a process in progress, not a completed acquisition.

On 2 May 2026, the EFL confirmed the asset transfer to Arise Capital Partners and said Wednesday had exited administration. The completed 2026 takeover does not change what is known about Jordan’s departure from Crystal Palace in 2010.
