Ryan Garcia said before his May 2, 2025 fight with Rolly Romero that he expected to make around $20 million, according to reports of his March remarks. That is a reported pre-fight expectation—not an officially confirmed final purse or his take-home income. DraftKings Network estimated Romero’s purse at $5 million to $5.5 million.
What Ryan Garcia said about his expected payday
DraftKings Network reported that Garcia told Ring Champs in March 2025 he was making around $20 million for the upcoming fight. Sporting News described his stated expectation as more than $15 million and reported that he answered “around there” when asked about the $20 million mark.
Those accounts concern what Garcia expected before the bout. They do not establish that he ultimately received that amount.
How the reported figures compare
| Fighter | Reported amount | What the figure represents |

| Ryan Garcia | Around $20 million; Sporting News also characterized his statement as more than $15 million and around the $20 million mark | Garcia’s reported pre-fight expectation, not a verified final purse |
| Rolly Romero | $5 million to $5.5 million | DraftKings Network’s pre-fight purse estimate, not a verified disclosure |

Are these official purses or take-home earnings?
No. The cited reports do not confirm either fighter’s final compensation. The reviewed sources did not identify an official commission purse filing or promoter statement verifying the amounts, nor do they provide a breakdown of taxes, fees, or other deductions. A reported expected purse should not be read as guaranteed final pay or net income.
