That was Garcia’s own estimate, not a verified accounting of his take-home pay. The headline figure reportedly included fight-related income and a claimed bet on himself; the exact purse, pay-per-view share and other compensation were not publicly confirmed.
What did Garcia say he made?
Garcia posted that he made “About 50 million (probably more) in one night,” according to Gaming Today’s April 25, 2024 report. Treat that as a self-reported total, not an independently verified earnings figure. The reporting does not establish that it was net income after taxes, fees or other costs.
Garcia’s claim covered more than a disclosed fight purse. It was reported to include his alleged wager and fight-related earnings, but the separate amounts for guaranteed pay, pay-per-view (PPV) proceeds and other contractual compensation were not publicly verified. A later Celebrity Net Worth retrospective likewise said his exact compensation from the boxing event was never publicly established.
What was the reported bet—and how much would it pay?
Gaming Today reported that Garcia alluded to wagering $2 million at +500 odds on himself to win. At those odds, a winning $2 million bet would return $12 million including the original stake: about $10 million in profit before taxes or other costs. The wager and settlement were not independently documented in the reviewed reporting, so the calculation explains the reported terms; it does not verify that Garcia placed or collected the bet.

What happened to his disclosed purse?
After the fight, the New York State Athletic Commission changed the result to a no-contest following Garcia’s positive ostarine tests and a settlement. Garcia forfeited his disclosed purse and was fined $10,000. ABC News described the disclosed purse as $1.2 million, while ESPN reported $1.21 million. ESPN also reported that Garcia had already paid Haney $600,000 after missing weight, putting the reported purse forfeiture plus weight penalty at $1,821,000. Did Haney’s lawsuit establish that Garcia owed more?
No final allocation is established by the lawsuit coverage. In September 2024, Haney filed suit alleging battery, fraud and unjust enrichment. Claims in the complaint about Garcia’s purse, PPV proceeds or contractual shares are allegations—not a court finding that money was owed or paid. The reviewed reporting does not establish the case’s final disposition. ESPN’s report on the lawsuit describes the filing, not a final ruling.

How to read the competing numbers
When a fight-earnings figure is repeated, check what it measures before treating it as a paycheck. A disclosed purse, a betting return, betting profit and PPV proceeds are different amounts. Also check who made the claim and when: Garcia’s $50 million statement came before the commission settlement and later lawsuit, while the purse forfeiture reflects the subsequent sanction. None of the figures reviewed provides an audited total of Garcia’s net earnings from the event.
