What was confirmed about Meesho’s 2024 funding?
TechCrunch reported on May 10, 2024, that Meesho had secured $275 million in new funding disclosed through a securities filing. That filing-backed amount is the clearest figure in the report. TechCrunch’s contemporaneous report also described the financing as part of a larger round that might exceed $500 million.

The potential round size was not presented as a completed, confirmed total. TechCrunch attributed it to people familiar with ongoing discussions, so it should not be treated as money Meesho definitively raised in that filing.
Was Meesho valued at $3.9 billion?
TechCrunch reported that the ongoing round discussions implied a valuation of about $3.9 billion, citing people familiar with those discussions. This was reported context, not a final valuation established by the $275 million filing disclosure. It describes what was being discussed in 2024; it is not evidence of Meesho’s current valuation.

What did “150 million transacting users” mean?
The roughly 150 million figure appeared in the May 2024 report and belongs to that historical snapshot. It is not a current user count. “Annual transacting users” is also different from registered accounts: a Meesho securities filing defines the metric as unique consumers who successfully placed at least one order during the preceding 12 months.

- Six months ended September 30, 2025: Meesho reported 234.20 million annual transacting users, compared with 175.09 million in the corresponding 2024 period. The definition counts unique consumers with at least one successful order in the last 12 months. The NSE-hosted filing provides the figures and definition.
- Q3 FY26: Meesho reported 251 million annual transacting users, 690 million placed orders and ₹10,995 crore in net merchandise value (NMV). The company said these measures were up 34%, 36% and 26%, respectively, year on year. These are company-reported results for that quarter, not live counts. Meesho’s January 30, 2026 results release gives the figures.
- Earlier company disclosure: Meesho’s FY 2023–24 annual report excerpt stated approximately 187 million unique annual transacting users as of December 2024. The company’s annual-report materials provide that dated figure.
What does Meesho do?
Founded in 2015, Meesho operates an Indian e-commerce marketplace. The company describes its approach as making online commerce more affordable and accessible, including by offering sellers a lower-cost channel and building technology for consumers using low-end smartphones or low-bandwidth connections. Its annual report also describes personalization and accessibility efforts. These are Meesho’s descriptions of its own model, rather than independent assessments of its impact.
For context on its later operating results, Meesho Founder and CEO Vidit Aatrey said in the January 2026 release: “Our Q3 results reflect the strength of Meesho’s flywheel, with more users transacting more frequently, driving platform growth while building long-term habits in previously underserved markets.” That statement refers to Q3 FY26 performance, not the 2024 financing.
