Charlton Athletic have not disclosed how much they paid Blackpool for Rob Apter. The club’s announcement and BBC Sport both described the fee as undisclosed. Local reporting and a transfer database suggest a figure around or above £2 million, but neither establishes the amount as confirmed.
What fee did Charlton announce for Rob Apter?
Charlton said it signed Apter from Blackpool on 17 July 2025 for an undisclosed fee. BBC Sport reported the transfer on the same basis. Neither source published an exact price.
That means there is no confirmed public figure for the transfer fee. The available evidence also does not establish any add-ons, staged payments or other costs, so those should not be treated as part of a known total.
Why are reports putting the fee near £2 million?
South London Sport reporter Rich Cawley wrote on 17 July 2025 that the fee was difficult to pin down. His report noted that one website claimed it exceeded £2 million and described the move as likely to be Charlton’s biggest fee since the club’s reported £2 million signing of Naby Sarr in 2015. Those are attributed estimates, not a disclosed transfer price.

Valuball, a secondary transfer database, lists a £1.9 million base fee and a £2.3 million booked value. These are database estimates; Charlton has not confirmed either figure. A base-fee estimate and a booked-value estimate are also not necessarily interchangeable measures.
What does the official transfer record confirm?
The Football Association’s agent transaction register, covering 4 February 2025 to 2 February 2026, records Robert Julian Apter as a permanent transfer in to Charlton Athletic. It confirms the transfer registration, not its price: the register does not state a fee.

What is known about Apter’s move?
BBC Sport reported that Apter was 22 when he joined Charlton on a four-year contract. The report said he had made 57 appearances for Blackpool and scored eight goals.
Charlton’s announcement gave a different, season-specific summary: eight goals and eight assists for Blackpool in the previous season, and 13 goals and six assists during Apter’s Tranmere loan in 2023–24. These figures refer to different periods and should not be combined with the 57-appearance career total as if they described the same sample.

Did Blackpool’s manager reveal the fee or Apter’s wages?
No. BBC Sport reported Blackpool manager Steve Bruce saying the club could not stand in the way of the move and that the financial situation was “life-changing”. The comment describes the significance of the opportunity in financial terms; it does not give the transfer fee or Apter’s salary.
