BBC Sport reported an initial payment of £5.4 million, potentially rising to £9.4 million, plus sell-on and buy-back clauses. Those are reported terms, not a financial breakdown publicly confirmed by the clubs.
What Burnley officially announced
Burnley confirmed on 28 August 2024 that Mejbri had joined from Manchester United on a four-year contract. The club described the fee as undisclosed, so its announcement did not confirm a transfer price or the details of any conditional payments. Burnley’s player profile records that he joined in summer 2024.
What BBC Sport reported about the fee
BBC Sport’s report of 28 August 2024 put the fee paid at £5.4 million, with the possibility of it rising to £9.4 million. The distinction matters: £5.4 million was the reported initial amount; £9.4 million was a potential total, not a guaranteed or confirmed payment. Burnley did not publicly confirm either figure.
| Term | What is established |
|---|---|
| Official fee disclosure | Burnley called the fee undisclosed. |
| Reported initial fee | BBC Sport reported £5.4 million. |
| Reported possible total | BBC Sport said the fee could rise to £9.4 million; whether it did so is not established. |
What is known about the clauses
BBC Sport reported that the agreement also included sell-on and buy-back clauses. The available report does not set out their full mechanics: it does not establish an exact sell-on percentage, a buy-back price, or the conditions that would activate either provision. Those details should not be treated as confirmed terms.

Did Mejbri’s Burnley statistics trigger an add-on?
Burnley’s profile lists 37 league appearances, one goal and four assists for Mejbri in the 2024/25 season. Those figures describe his performances; they do not show that a transfer add-on was triggered or paid. No source cited here establishes whether any conditional additions were ultimately paid.
