Palmer Luckey’s reported figure was $10,923,494, also estimated for 2021, while Joseph Chen’s was $1,449,812. Those figures are not verified annual cash salaries: the totals may include bonuses, stock awards and options, and Anduril said some equity grants vest over several years and remain illiquid until an IPO.
What the reported figures show
The amounts below come from TechCrunch’s November 26, 2024 analysis of Anduril executive-compensation disclosures in federal contracting records. The year shown is TechCrunch’s estimate of the covered compensation year, not a year stated by USAspending.gov. Read the TechCrunch report.

The table is not a complete salary roster. These are reported compensation totals tied to records, not a verified comparison of executives’ yearly take-home pay. For Burhan Muzaffar, USAspending’s award page for PIID FA882026FB002 lists $3,125,757 in its Executive Compensation field; the 2023 year assignment comes from TechCrunch’s estimate, not the database record itself. Why these are not annual cash salaries
The compensation field can include bonuses, stock awards and options. Anduril did not provide a cash-versus-equity breakdown, so the figures do not establish how much any executive received as cash or could spend during the year shown.

An Anduril spokesperson quoted by TechCrunch said the reporting requirements were “based on rules designed for publicly traded defense companies and don’t account for the complexities of startup equity compensation.” The spokesperson also said portions of the totals could represent multiyear equity grants vesting over four or five years and remaining illiquid until an IPO. A grant’s reported value is therefore not the same as cash in hand: vesting can occur later, and private-company equity may not be readily saleable.
How TechCrunch assigned the years
USAspending publishes executive-compensation information through federal contracting records, but the database does not state which compensation year a record covers. TechCrunch reviewed 26 Anduril contracts from 2021 through 2024 and estimated the compensation year as the year before a contract modification. Anduril declined to clarify the period covered, according to the report.

That method makes the year labels estimates rather than independently verified tax-year or payroll totals. What the figures do—and do not—tell you
- They identify reported totals: the figures indicate amounts associated with executives in federal contract disclosures analyzed by TechCrunch.
