Re:

How Many Fighter Jets Are Produced Annually in Europe?

Public figures do not establish a Europe-wide annual fighter-jet total. Dassault reported 21 Rafale deliveries in 2024 and 26 in 2025, while cited Eurofighter and Gripen figures are not comparable annual counts.

There is no verified Europe-wide annual total in the public manufacturer figures reviewed. The clearest recent figure is for one program: Dassault delivered 21 Rafale fighters in 2024 and 26 in 2025. Those are Rafale deliveries—not a count of all fighter jets produced in Europe.

What do the available annual figures show?

Dassault Aviation reported these Rafale deliveries:

Calendar year Rafales delivered Breakdown
2024 21 14 to France; 7 for export
2025 26 11 to France; 15 for export

These figures are deliveries, not a Europe-wide production count. Dassault also reported 13 Rafale deliveries in 2023. Its 2025 reporting listed a backlog of 220 Rafales at 31 December 2025; that is aircraft awaiting delivery, not 2025 output.

Why can’t those figures be added up to get Europe’s total?

Comparable annual delivery counts are not available for all the major European fighter programs in the cited public material. The information reported for Eurofighter and Gripen uses different measures—or does not give a count—so combining it with Rafale deliveries would produce a misleading total.

Program Annual delivery evidence Other reported figures and their meaning
Rafale 21 delivered in 2024 and 26 in 2025, according to Dassault Aviation Dassault reported a backlog of 220 at 31 December 2025; backlog is not annual output.
Eurofighter Typhoon No directly comparable annual delivery count is given in the cited Airbus material. Airbus reported 769 lifetime orders as of 31 December 2025. It also reported an order for 25 additional Eurofighter military aircraft for Spain in the fourth quarter of 2024. Neither figure is a yearly delivery count.
Gripen E/F Saab’s 2025 annual report says aircraft were delivered to Sweden and Brazil during 2025, but the cited passage does not state how many. The deliveries included Brazil, illustrating that a European-headquartered manufacturer’s deliveries are not necessarily the same as aircraft assembled in Europe.

What does “produced in Europe” mean?

The answer depends on the counting rule. “Produced” could mean aircraft completed at a factory, accepted by a customer, or delivered. Company releases often report deliveries, which may not occur in the same year as factory completion. “In Europe” could mean made in European factories or made by European-headquartered manufacturers, even when an aircraft is assembled or delivered elsewhere.

The distinction matters especially for Eurofighter: it is a collaborative program involving Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Italy, with Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo among the industrial leaders. Assigning each aircraft to a single country—or treating a manufacturer’s deliveries as European factory output—can obscure how the program is organized.

Are announced production rates the same as annual output?

No. Eurofighter CEO Jorge Tamarit Degenhardt said new orders would raise the production rate to 20 aircraft per year, with 30 or more possible if export orders materialized. That is a conditional rate outlook, not a count of aircraft actually delivered in a given year. Dassault’s 2024 annual report also described Rafale production as ramping up amid internal and external supply-chain difficulties, another reason not to treat a planned rate as realized output.

What is the most accurate short answer?

A Europe-wide annual fighter production total cannot be verified from the cited public figures. The firm recent program-level benchmark is 21 Rafales delivered in 2024 and 26 in 2025; the available cited figures for Eurofighter and Gripen do not provide matching annual delivery counts. Orders, lifetime orders, backlogs and announced rates should not be added to those delivery numbers.
