How many CIG employees were laid off?
The only specific count in the contemporaneous reporting was an anonymous source’s estimate of around a dozen employees, described by Insider Gaming as roughly 1% of CIG’s workforce. Insider Gaming could not verify the extent of the departures, so neither figure should be treated as an audited or confirmed total. Insider Gaming’s November 28, 2024 report said the departures had taken place over the preceding days.
Two follow-ups published November 29 repeated the approximate dozen-person estimate while noting that the precise number was unknown. 80 Level said it was pending an announcement; GameReactor cautioned that the total could be higher or lower. Did CIG confirm the layoffs?
Insider Gaming said CIG had made no internal or public announcement about the layoffs or possible restructuring as of November 28, 2024. The reports cited here do not establish whether CIG later confirmed this particular round, so the reported estimate remains unverified in this coverage.

Insider Gaming’s sources said quality assurance (QA) was mainly affected, while the outlet cautioned that it could not verify the full scope. The reporting therefore does not establish how many QA employees, or how many staff in other areas, were involved.
How does this differ from earlier 2024 layoffs?
Insider Gaming also referred to a separate earlier round, estimating that around 100 staff at CIG’s Austin and Los Angeles offices had been affected earlier in 2024. That was also an estimate, not an audited count. It should not be added to the November estimate or treated as part of the same event.

What is known about the Citizencon timing?
Citizencon was the timing context for the November report. Insider Gaming also referenced claims that employees had worked seven-day weeks before the event and quoted a former employee’s criticism. Those were reported allegations, not independently verified evidence of company policy. The cited coverage does not establish that Citizencon or the reported work schedule caused the staff departures.
