Most clip-on Kindle page turners do not connect to the e-reader over Bluetooth. They use a remote to trigger a small sensor that touches the screen. Compatibility depends on the exact Kindle model, the accessory’s design and whether a case blocks the sensor. A few Kindles also offer built-in ways to advance pages.
How a clip-on Kindle page turner works
A common accessory has two pieces: a clip-on sensor positioned against the Kindle’s touchscreen and a separate radio-frequency (RF) remote. Pressing the remote activates the sensor, which makes screen contact to turn the page. The remote pairs with the sensor, not with the Kindle over Bluetooth.
Sensor placement matters. An accessory manual describes positioning the sensor on the left or right side of the screen to select the page-turn direction. The clip needs an unobstructed place to contact the display, so a bezel, case edge or incorrect placement can interfere. Follow the instructions for the specific accessory; controls and setup differ by product. Accessory manual
Which Kindles are compatible?
There is no universal compatibility list for clip-on page turners. One accessory manual warns that some Kindle models are unsupported, including Kindle 7 and Kindle 8, but that restriction applies to that product—not necessarily to every sensor-based remote. Accessory manual

Before buying, identify the exact device under Settings > Device Options > Device Info, then compare that model and generation with the accessory maker’s supported-model list. “Kindle” or “Paperwhite” alone may not be specific enough, and sellers may use generation names inconsistently. Amazon’s device-identification guide can help distinguish models. Amazon device-identification guide
Does a Bluetooth page turner work with a Kindle?
Bluetooth support does not automatically mean a Kindle accepts a Bluetooth page-turn remote. Amazon’s general Bluetooth instructions describe connecting devices for VoiceView commands and audiobook playback, and say Bluetooth keyboards and mice are unsupported. Amazon also says Bluetooth connectivity is supported on Kindle devices released in 2016 or later. Amazon Bluetooth help

Kindle Click: a reported newer option
October 1, 2026 reporting described Amazon’s Kindle Click as a Bluetooth page-turning remote and reported compatibility with Kindle e-readers released from 2024 onward. Amazon’s general Bluetooth help page does not document that compatibility, so check Amazon’s product page or support information for your exact model before relying on the reported range or purchasing. Double-tap on two 2024 Signature Edition models
Amazon documents an accelerometer-based double-tap feature for the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (12th Generation) and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. While reading, double-tap the side or back of the device to advance a page; find the setting under All Settings > Device Options. Amazon says its official cases have been tested, but some third-party cases may block the feature. This support is specific to those models, not every Paperwhite or Colorsoft. Amazon double-tap help

Physical buttons on Kindle Oasis
Kindle Oasis models released in 2016 (8th generation), 2017 (9th generation) and 2019 (10th generation) have physical page-turn buttons, so owners can advance pages without an external remote. Amazon device-identification guide
Fire tablets and Kindle apps are different
Amazon says compatible Bluetooth switches can navigate Fire tablets and turn pages in Kindle books. Its accessibility overview also says volume controls can turn pages in the Kindle Android app. These are options for tablets or the app, not proof that a Bluetooth page-turner will work with a Kindle e-reader. What to check before choosing a page turner
- Mechanism: Is it an RF remote and screen-contact sensor, a Bluetooth accessory explicitly supported by your model, or a built-in option such as Oasis buttons or double-tap?
- Exact Kindle model: Check Device Info and match the generation—not just the product family—to the accessory’s compatibility list.
- Case clearance: A clip-on sensor needs a clear place to touch the display. A third-party case may also interfere with double-tap on supported Signature Edition devices.
- Controls and setup: Check page-turn direction, pairing or wake steps, and any inactivity timeout in the accessory’s manual; these details are product-specific.
